Unlike Sidney, I did not choose to leave my education to accomplish my dreams. Even as a young dancer with the passion for succeeding as a professional, my parent’s expectation of me attaining a decent education and stable job drove my decisions. Which ultimately ended in the ceasing of pursuing my dancing…
Barb got inspired to start Barb’s Centre for Dance because of her love and passion for dance and children. Her life has changed because instead of teaching all of the classes herself, she now manages a staff of forty between two locations. Barb's mom inspired her because she always told her positive things. Barb made a difference in many people’s lives through Barb’s Centre for Dance annual holiday shows with donations to local charities. She has raised over $245,000. She also helps dancers build self-esteem, character, and self-confidence. Barb would rather give than receive! Barb’s biggest accomplishment is being in business for 32 years. Her dance studio has changed from one studio with 65…
He sighed. ‘I wonder if Phoenix is doing anything’ he thought. Phoenix used to call him everyday to check on how he was doing. However, ever since he faced a crushing defeat to ballet champion Amy Rivera, he’s gotten depressed and never called ever since.…
Misty Copeland is someone who continuously inspires me, not only as a dancer, but as a person too. Discovering dance at age thirteen is exceptionally late when aiming for a professional career, especially with a prestigious company like the American Ballet Theatre. Dancing en pointe just three months after taking her first class and beginning a professional career shortly afterwards, Misty beat the odds. Throughout Ballerina Body I learned that you will encounter obstacles on the path to achieving your goals. They come in the forms of other people, society, money and even yourself, it’s the way you overcome these obstacles that will determine the outcome. In the words of Misty herself, “To many, I was too old and too brown to succeed in the…
Intro: From ballroom to tango, and break dancing to ballet, dance has always been a part of human culture, rituals and celebrations. Today, most dancing is about recreation and self-expression, although it can also be done as a competitive activity. The benefits of dancing are innumerable in terms of one’s social, mental, and physical health. Fortunately, we attend a university that makes the art of dance available for anyone and everyone.…

Due to the toddlers having "fitkids" almost everyday, they are exposed to many various activities that promote movement and dance. In order to help facilitate development within the arts, there are recommendations that need to be given and carried out to help this particular toddlers development in the arts. Within each of these recommendations are an objective that corresponds with the recommendation.…
One day while I was dancing to a record in my living room, my mother’s friend who was a Spanish dancer noticed me and encouraged me to start taking dance lessons. So I began taking lessons from a prestigious dancer, Paco Casino who was related to Rita Hayworth. Before I knew it, dancing was changing my life in a blink of an eye and I thoroughly enjoyed every minute of it. As I was turning nine, my phase as a Spanish dancer soon took a shift to staring in dramatic radio shows.…
I will be using this article to provide my paper with information on the physical and emotional advantages of dance education. The addition of that information to my paper will be beneficial when explaining both sides of the argument. Using this source does not provide me with any challenges it only further supports my research.…
As I went out onto the stage, the bright lights hurt my eyes. My hands were sweating and the music for our lyrical started to play. For this dance I felt free. I knew all the moves and they just flowed out of me as I continued to dance. I did not even think about the people in the crowd as I looked to the back of the auditorium. With every breath another second went by, and before I knew it I made my last move and left the stage. I thought “first dance down only two more to go,” as I quickly got ready for the next dance.…
inspired to write this story for children about the joy of dancing. The book is a heart-warming story about…
The atmosphere that existed within my dance studio was one so utterly supportive and positive, that my love for dance grew stronger. The girls that I spent hours each week with, became sisters to me. We were able to support one another in class, as well as within our personal lives. By spending so much time with such wonderful people, I’d like to think that I have become a better person. My time dancing at Miss Charity’s Shuffles and Chaînes has taught me how to love myself, and everything that makes me, me. It has taught me freedom of expression, and the value in making art out of what matters to me. It has taught me how to respect other opinions and ideas, even when they are different from my own. It has taught me the value in friendship, and that a healthy support system is the perfect thing to end a stressful day with. It has taught me discipline, kindness, teamwork, and many other valuable traits. The thought of leaving dance is one that I cannot fathom, and it is for that reason that I will try and keep it a part of my life as long as I see fit. I may not want to pursue a career in dance, but I can’t see myself abandoning something that has become a part of who I am. Without dance, I am not Taylor Ann Ruzewski, and I wouldn’t want to be anyone different that the person I am…
There are somethings that I need to overcome and I will do that by being myself when I dance. There’s still many things I need to learn in life. I love to teach people things because I give clear instructions while teaching. Therefore I want to teach at my school because I want to give back. And when I show people how to dance in such a creative style it makes me feel good because I love the craft and there are a lot of people that quit…
As a child I wasn’t able to participate in too many activities. I had two other siblings and it just wasn’t feasible for my parents to enroll us in a lot of extracurricular events. My sister took ballet as a child. I would attend classes with her and I would watch her perform her routines. I became interested in what she did but I didn’t think “ballet” was for me, but I did want to participate in some form of performing arts. I liked to dance but ballet was too slow paced for me. I informed my mother about how I felt, letting her know that I wanted to take dance classes. She obliged and soon signed me up for tap and jazz classes.…
I remember a few months after I settled into Shanghai, my mother took me to a ballet class. Back when I lived in Australia, I adored my dance classes, so when I found out I was overjoyed. As we headed to the studio, I had on a leotard that a parent from Australia had made for me. It was a gorgeous rose pink and its nylon fabric reflected against the light, with that a smooth, lightweight chiffon skirt wrapped around my waist, below, typical ballerina tights. I steadily walked into the class in my itty- bitty ballet shoes. As the class began, I was nervous but yet a part of me was also excited. The class was utterly amazing; the room was filled with plies, tondus and grand battements. We crossed the room with jetes, a move that made me feel…
