Ever wonder how low birth infants and preterm infants develop? Not very people know that there is more than the term preterm for an early infant. There are different styles to help with a low birth and preterm infants. There are three important developments that can help with low birth and preterm infants. The first factor for preterm infant develop is preterm and small for date infants. The term low birth weight infants are the infants that weigh less the 5 ½ pounds. Preterm infants are the ones that are born three weeks or more before the pregnancy has reached its full term. Small for date (small for gestational age) infants are the ones that the birth weight is below normal when the pregnancy has reached its full term. All of these three are related
There are two increasingly used to help with this. The first one is the Kangaroo care, which is holding the infant so that there is skin to skin contact between the mother and the infant. This technique is usually performed for two or three hours per day. The second one is massage therapy, which is being used on preterm infants. Both these techniques are having positive outcomes on the infants.
This goes with my future career by that I want to be a neonatal nurse. If not a neonatal nurse; then I at least want to do labor and delivery. The neonatal nurses deal with the preterm babies. Once the baby is born, and if there are any complications with the baby all of these key factors can play a part.
