'Pressure Is A Prettier Word'
This quote is spoken by the frail and aging Judge Irwin. Jack travels to Irwin’s house in order to confirm whether or not the dirt dug up is actually true. Jack explains the situation and asks Judge Irwin whether he understands why Jack made the trip to his house. Judge Irwin knows that Willie and Jack are trying to pressure him. Judge Irwin goes as far as to use the word “blackmail” (Warren 521). Jack then claims that “pressure is a prettier word” (Warren 521). Judge Irwin then says this quote.
