President Woodrow Wilson: Winning the War with Fourteen Points

Recently in Egypt 529 people were sentenced to death in court. So many people were put to death because they had something to do with the killing of a police officer. It is said that they killed the police out of anger because of something the islamist president did.So many people being put to death caused crowds to protest around the courthouse. After the ruling they protested against military rule.It was also said that some schools closed down from fear of riots in the streets. The people of the city say that this was done so that the people do not rebel.”They want to scare us so we don’t go out into the streets against them.” Others are calling it “the harshest mass conviction” in modern egypts history. Not only that but people were also scared to share an opinion against the ruling in the courthouse.

Legal experts say that they’ve never seen anything so ridiculous.“We have never heard of anything of this magnitude before its quite ridiculous.” says one of them. Many of the legal experts do not believe that it was right to place such a sentence in only 2 trials. They don’t think it is fair at all. However some experts say the death sentences placed Monday will definitely be reduced. “Mindless repression still seems to be the order of the day.” is said in the article, meaning that the jury really had no opinion in it because they were scared.

In my opinion the ruling did not seem fair.I think this because of the comments quoted in the article. Also because it is nearly impossible to prove that 500 people planned to kill one person. Not all could have had a role in the killing of the police officer, thus i do not think they should all be sentenced to death.Unless proven I do not think the sentence should have been as harsh. If it was proven that they all played a role in the killing the sentence wouldn’t seem as harsh.I do not think all of these people deserved to be put to death just because they were protesting.

The United States did not plan to become involved in World War I. Woodrow Wilson tried his best to stay out of conflict and remain neutral. Woodrow felt that neutrality was the best thing for them. When the war began Woodrow remained in isolation. It soon became inevitable for them to be involved in the war. With no choice, the United States had to make use of their small army and train more people who were drafted into the war. The sinking of a ship carrying Americans caused Woodrow to become furious.…

Before making the final decision the court considered the following factors, length of delay, prejudiced to the accused, explanation for the delay, and Waiver of Appellants. The Supreme Court then concluded that the delay of 2 years after the appellant's preliminary trial was unreasonable. The Crown did not justify the institutional delay and did not prove that the delay prejudiced the delay of the accused. Therefore, their final decision was to set the four men free as the delay was excessive. I agree with the court's decision because the Crown did not justify the reason for the 2-year delay, which was a violation of the men's charter rights. The men were also held in custody for 6 months before being proven guilty. This to me was the right ruling of the case because no serious crime was committed when the incident occurred, and the two-year delay was not appropriate for this type of…

Woodrow Wilson helped to win the First World War; he lost the peace back in America. Wilson claimed that he was a pacifist and that America would not fight the war that raged with a bloody vengeance in Europe. Wilson insisted that America must stay neutral publicly, but behind closed doors, he sought out ways to support Great Britain and France through the means of financial support. While the majority of Americans were pleased with being neutral, many immigrants from German and Europe were wanted America to fight for their side and created tensions between cultures. America also gave food and clothes to the Allie forces by putting them underneath a cruise ship with no one the wiser.…

Coming out of World War I, the United States emerged as the most powerful nation in the world. The president at this time was the Progressive Woodrow Wilson. Wilson came up with a plan for long lasting peace at the conclusion of the war called the Fourteen Points. One of these points was the League of Nations which was Wilson's favorite thing. This part of Wilson's plan stated, "A general association of nations must be formed under specific covenants for the purpose of affording mutual guarantees of political independence and territorial integrity to great and small states alike." However, the United States never signed the Treaty of Versailles and never became a member of the League of Nations. Opposition against Wilson's plans…

In 1916, Woodrow Wilson became the first democrat president to win a second consecutive term since Andrew Jackson. Wilson won the election by vowing to remain neutral in the Great War. He himself, in his first term, said “America was too proud to fight.” The Great War was mainly between Germany and their allies, and Russia and their allies.…

Many people around the world believed the execution of the two men was a miscarriage of justice. The two men Sacco and Vanzetti were guilty under unapproved evidence. It shows that the proof that the witnesses had were not true and that Sacco and Vanzetti couldn't have committed the murders. Many Americans were glad that Sacco and Vanzetti were dead. On the other hand, others were mad of their deaths. They marched around with signs saying, “American honor dies with Sacco and Vanzetti.” Sacco and Vanzetti were victims of a unfair trial just because of their background and beliefs.…

Thomas Woodrow Wilson was born on December 28, 1856, in Staunton, Virginia. He spent his childhood as the son of a dedicated Presbyterian mom and dad, named Janet Woodrow (his mother), and Joseph Woodrow (his father). His father was a minister of the First Presbyterian Church. Less than a year later, the family moved to Augusta, Georgia. Young Wilson's earliest memories were of the Civil War, seeing Union soldiers march into town, watching his mother tend wounded Confederate soldiers in a local hospital, and witnessing General Robert E. Lee pass through town under Union guard after his surrender at Appomattox Court House in Virginia. He also saw the poverty and devastation of Augusta during the early years of Reconstruction. In 1870, his family moved to Columbia, South Carolina, and then to Wilmington, North Carolina, in 1874.…

Leadership, as seen in WW1, was portrayed by different leaders, to start with; we have Woodrow Wilson – In 1917, he relented and took America into the war against Germany. After the war, he strove to develop the League of Nations and impose a fair peace settlement on the defeated parties. He initially sought to keep America out of the global conflict. Georges Clemenceau-…

According to the song, it had all been decided before hand. The District Attorney (D.A.) was “[practicing] all his lines in the mirror.” He knew what the outcome was going to be, and so did everybody else. They must’ve all “read the morning paper, The headline [read] “the man hangs” but the jury doesn’t.” The D.A. doesn’t have to say anything to convince the jury over- a hung jury is an undecided jury-they agree with what the newspaper says. The man is already hung. Just like in TKAM, Tom Robinson had no chance to win. But even if some of the jury isn’t convinced-Mr. Cunningham-the Prosecutor can just “pay to close it like a casket.” Even the witness is payed off he is, “Too well dressed for the witness stand” AKA he just got new clothes. Hmm, maybe a new paycheck?? The defendant has no chance, he either “[Hangs] on a rope, or bated breath.” The death penalty will be served, or the suspense will end him. Game over. To add to the injustice of this case “The press prays for whichever headline is worse.” The accused has nothing going for him. The jury, either they get payed to vote against him, or they agree with the Prosecutor. The witness already got payed off to say the ‘right’ thing; and the press just doesn’t care-unless it will help them sell papers. That dude couldn’t catch a break. The 5 minorities arrested had DNA proof-DNA that is I believe 100% accurate, they were innocent and no amount of arguing could prove it another way-yet they still were convicted. Tom Robinson had the 1930’s version of DNA proof, yet he stood no chance at being…

Human rights activists were upset by this verdict and called the original sentence lenient. Especially considering hundreds of supporters of Mursi and his Muslim Brotherhood have been sentenced to death. The international scrutiny of the judiciary has intensified because of this, in addition to high-profile court cases against activists and foreign journalists. Many of the family members of those who were killed in the police van had seen the cancelation of the 10-year jail term as a sign of the lack of justice in the country.…
