Prescription drugs are too easy to get and are also addictive. I don’t do any drugs but I can easily access prescription drugs. Prescription drugs are everywhere. One of the main reasons young people abuse prescription drugs is because they are cheap. Individuals my age don’t have an excess of money, so prescriptions drugs are the answer if an individual wants to get high. In high school, most of the abused drugs are marijuana, painkillers, and depressants such as OxyContin and Xanax. In college, students start to use drugs like Adderall because they want to get better grades. Adderall is the most common drug that I have seen being used in college, other than marijuana. I don’t even think people see marijuana as a drug anymore,

The general consensus is that stimulant amphetamines like Adderall do indeed increase performance in those that do and do not have properly diagnosed ADHD. The promise of a better GPA with less effort is promise enough for college students across the board to obtain Adderall by any means necessary. Many students admit to actually seeing doctors and purposefully exaggerating symptoms of ADHD to acquire medication. Adderall is mainly prescribed to those who are diagnosed with attention-deficit hyperactivity disorder. Talbot started her article with a story about a Harvard student, who has used Adderall in order to successfully make his way through college. This story completely relates to my research and is used as evidence on how students actually do resort to the use of neuroenhancement drugs to cope for the amount of work and stress that college comes with. By this statement, I believe that most students are very dependent on drugs such as Adderall in order to do well in college, or even at least pass. However, there are side effects to using drugs such as Adderall: nervousness, headaches, sleeplessness, and decreased appetite. According to the F.D.A, “amphetamines have a high potential for abuse.” Students need to realize that as helpful as neuroenhancement drugs are, there are risks if they are used…

Now some people would say I’m crazy for saying this, that there is no way that people of 2017 are that deep into drugs for me to be comparing us to citizens of the brave new world, but those types of people are ones whose minds are not open to new ideas.…

Some of the more commonly known drugs include Adderall, prescription painkillers and Xanax. These are the medications I will be researching and informing about, but there are definitely a lot more than three. Many people are prescribed and use these drugs as directed by a professional, but many also don’t. Adolescents often share or sell their medications to those who are not prescribed, and have no other way of receiving them. Constant misuse can lead to many health problems, and in extreme cases even death. Besides the abuse,…
