Precision: I love knowledge; more knowledge makes me feel like I am a God. With work, personal life and schooling, I memorize everything I can get my hands on to use at a later time within conversation and everyday life. My husband and I will talk about fundraiser ideas within our company for up coming events. I will question him is every aspect of the idea and leave no stone unturned in the idea. Within this class I know why he gets frustrated when I question or challenge the idea as his use of precision is avoid manor.…
Sequence is a routine of my life, I use it lot weather it is good or bad. I feel the need to follow a plan. I also need to have a clear explanation of what I’m expected to do. At work I am usually the one that needs to write out a plan of how am going to execute it before doing so than follow up with consist review of instruction to make sure accurate. These sometimes becomes very time consuming as I am always needing more time to ensure I get things done right the first time around. I cannot relax or focus on other things when everything is in chaotic. I feel cutter anything equals to clutter mind. Being organized is one step I think necessary in becoming a successful student.…
According to chapter two I learned that I am a fixed performance learner. I realized this from the quotes on page 15. "You interrupted my thinking'" and " Where possible, we try to avoid challenging tasks in which we might struggle and make mistakes, and thus provide evidence of our incompetence.” I chose this quote because while I was reading this I connected to it. There would be times where I was thinking of something I was doing and someone interrupted me in my thought process.…
Don't wait until you can do it perfectly, or exactly, just do something. That's is the polar opposite of my usual train of thought.…
The first and most important skill to becoming a successful adult learner is to have a plan of action. By just knowing what you have to do, you have already won half the battle. In a journal called Time Managemnt Training and Perceived Control of Time at Work by Hafner, creating a plan can be referred to as planning behavior and according to the article planning behavior, “refers to the decisions about which tasks to perform, how these tasks should be prioritized, and how to deal with possible distractions, especially when one has to perform several tasks simultaneously.” In order to acquire this planning behavior or help create a plan of action I have come up with a three step…
In the novel, The Learning Tree, written by Gordon Parks, is a character by the name of Newt Winger. He is a kind black teenager who is a constant victim of racism by the opposing whites. In the play, Antigone, is a character by the name of Antigone who is a daughter of a former king. She has a strong moral character and the will to accomplish anything. As I compare these two characters, one will begin to see the close similarities between the two in will, moral character to do what is right, and other aspects of life.…
Sometimes, I overthink without even noticing it. It could be the smallest thing, but somehow I start having different scenarios about what might happen in the situation. This is something I need to improve so that things can smooth out. Another area I need to improve in is avoiding distractions. It would start at my house where my mom asks for a favor. I tell her that I’m about to do it, but I get on my phone to watch vine videos. It turns out that I’ve been on it for 20 minutes which means I haven’t done the favor my mom asked for. I want to become better at doing things the first time around. My last area to grow in is to plan things ahead. When I’m with my friends, they try to go with the flow. Most of the time that it happens, we don’t get as far as we want to at the end of the day. So, I want to suggest to plan out what to do throughout the day because if the plan changes, we have a second plan which means we’re using our time wisely.…
I am a “Hands On” type of learner and also a “Risk Taker”. I have my goals set and I love the direction that I see myself going in while I’m attending Regent; however sometimes I know I my habits of studying gets in the way and I wait till the last minute sometimes and it frustrates me.…
Reading “Dan as a Learner” is my life. But the confidents isn’t because I put my all in to an assignment. I would call it “me time” when I drift of in entertaining myself when I know I suppose to be focusing on my assignments. It is gratifying when I am doing and accomplishing them. Dan and I can be more successful by scheduling at time and setting an alarm. One of the learning patterns he should focus on using is Sequence. He can create a to-do list where he can fill his needs to stimulate his mind so he can not feel the need to seek out entertainment. Second would be Confluence learning pattern, just like the sports entertainment show and athletes, recognize the effort need to get where they are and apply that attitude toward school.…
My preferred receptive learning style is the read/write because when reading and writing, I get an easier way to learn things faster with true information. While reading, I can write short summaries of what I just learned in the reading which makes it easier to remember what paragraphs I got my information from. I totally agree with my results, it has taught me that I am able to take good notes that will help me get a better understanding of the readings. Also, the textbook gave great tips that would help me better my skills that I have and gain new skills. The first tip could be managing my time efficiently so that I can learn as much information as I could so that in life experiences I would be able to use them. The textbook made me realize…
Sorana Constantinescu facilitated an insightful lecture and discussion. This discussion was based on her experimental findings while researching the misogynistic attitudes in Romanian women. From this discussion I was able to gather that this country has communist ideology that has been very deeply ingrained into the culture and the mindset of the Romanian population. With these ideologies being so deeply ingrained within the society it has hindered the country's progress when it comes to facilitating the discussion for gender equality along the lines of the political and social spectrum. The…
The second would be to "Sharpen the saw." I often find a million and one things on my to-do list. To get by, I try to spend every waking moment reading, writing papers, or studying for tests. I guess the rationale behind my strategy is that if I work continuously, I should finish sooner than later. However, this is rarely the effect. Instead, I end up checking and re-checking work that…
The individual does not understand or know how to do something and does not necessarily recognize the deficit. They may deny the usefulness of the skill. The individual must recognise their own incompetence, and the value of the new skill, before moving on to the next stage.[2] The length of time an individual spends in this stage depends on the strength of the stimulus to learn.[3]…
Learning processes are powerful aids to intelligence but sometime they fail in coping with confusing experience and complicated problems because they do not take in consideration distant times, distant place and failures. The first step in overcoming these limitations is recognizing them and trying to avoid so they would not effect negatively in our performance.…
