My spirit began to search for more of God . It is apparent that I must fast, pray and read my bible on a daily basis so that I can focus on God and build a closer relationship with him. This book is an excellent resource for counseling for those who need guidance in incorporating spiritual disciplines in a secularly dominated society. The only way this will be instrumental in counseling is to refer to its teaching and allow the Holy Spirit to make it conducive and acceptable in the counseling session. Many Christian counselors can use this resource to reach a level of maturity that will translate into true healing and…

For Christians and the church the Holy Spirit lives inside the Christian and guides the actions of those who desire His presence. The Spirit empowers the believer to step outside his comfort zone to do extraordinary acts of faith for God. Being filled with the Spirit involves transforming their minds to the mind of Christ as we engage in spiritual activities. Walking in the Spirit leads to a sense of peace and joy. Violating their conscience through acts of disobedience leads to a loss of filling by the Holy Spirit, which takes away their joy and peace. Although God will not take the Holy Spirit away from a disciple of Jesus Christ, the continual practice of sin and a lack of spiritual activities will lead to a life that is no different than the life of a…

The Holy Spirit is always present, guiding humanity in its most difficult times. One way in which this is done is through the Gifts of the Holy Spirit, which help us live out the Gospel in our lives. Oscar Romero, who was an archbishop in El Salvador, exemplifies the Holy Spirit working through humanity. Romero was a constant advocate for all, and everything he did was through the gifts of the Holy Spirit. The gifts of fortitude, understanding, and piety were the main gifts of the Holy Spirit that I saw exemplified through the life of Oscar Romero.…

It also states that all human experience is processed by the brain. In order for you to accomplish this experience one must have discovered one’s self through prayer or meditation. Although, the brain has the ability to change through infancy, adolescence, and old age, so do our faith and experience with God. As a little girl growing up in the church. I heard the many different stories about how great and powerful God is, but never experience the relationship that I have with God on today. I experience hearing from God through prayer, his word and speaking in unknown tongues. This experience did not only teach me about discipline and growth, but it increased my faith in God (Roehlkepartian, King, Wagener & Benson…

Sanders in his arguments is explaining how the trinity is the gospel and all three persons are involved in the work of salvation. However, many people, in their Christian lives, tend to forget the Father and the Spirit because it was Jesus who died on the cross and brought forgiveness and salvation. Sanders is pointing out that Christians need to understand that being fully united with Christ is always being united with the Trinity God, not just the Second person (Sanders 172). For the fuller, richer Christian life, there needs to be a shift in the paradigm from Jesus-only-orientation to the Trinity God and praying with the knowledge of Trinitarianism which will result in more impactful prayer life.…

For many people, prayer is an abstract experience or an escape valve. They pray – however they don’t see any answers. Why? Because they pray doubting their prayer will ever be heard by God. Despite the many times God has said in the Bible to ask, pray, call on Him and he will answer (Jeremiah 33:3), many Christians don’t have a prayer life. However, they attend church and even call themselves believers, but in reality they are as far from God as any unbeliever. To be a good reflection of Christ and see answers to our prayers, as followers of Jesus we must stay close to vine, so as branches we can produce the fruits of the spirit, which are love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness ,faithfulness, gentleness and self control.…

Prayer is a mighty spiritual force. It is spiritual food for the soul. Spiritual practices must be done regularly, as our life will be gradually changed and moulded. Prayer lights the heart and fills the mind with peace, strength and purity. When the mind becomes pure through the power of prayer, the intellect becomes sharp and keen. Holy Mother says spiritual practices are meant to keep the mind steady at the feet of God; to keep it immersed in His thought. Repeat His name.…
