Power Corrupts and Absolute Power Corrupts Absolutely
Power corrupts, absolute power corrupts absolutely...

The adage is quite old but its relevance is ageless. The past week has clearly reflected how the politicians have become absolutely corrupt by virtue of the absolute power bestowed on them through constitution. Every effort to remove this absolutism has been thwarted with complete disdain. Lokpal has not been allowed for so many decades and all the political group has covertly disliked it and colluded to not allow it happen in spite of a free nation together asking for it. Every word is silenced and khemkas and Durgas of this world get their wings clipped if they try to play with the absolute power. The reason is our political system has become close to monarchy in feigned way. The only difference from monarchy is that this system has group of monarchs. If one looks at the demography of politicians, all the new clans are the younger faces of the older generation. There are hardly a new family or individual joining the politics, rather new breeds are not allowed to prosper. Kejriwals are made to meet their own death by the use of this absolute power. The same media which was doing everything to highlight them and earn TRPs is now blocking every bit of news , why? they also have to survive in this absolutism. After all , this is also run by the people who have to survive and feed their family, so bonhomie has to be there with power. All the new generation of politician have the same genes, so how can one expect them to be different? be it congress or RJD or Shiv Sena or DMK or SAD or SP or any one , the replacements are not coming from any where other than the family? how this can be different from monarchy? Even those kins who had taken profession in films and sports, are coming back to politics. Just to keep the absolute power remaining absolute.
Even when Apex courts orders not to allow the convicts to come to parliament, they huddle to fight it out. How can some body be above them? It's not just the issue

In the passage, “PowerPoint s Evil Power Corrupts PowerPoint Corrupts Absolutely,” by Edward R. Tufte, he makes very clear his opinion that PowerPoint is a very ineffective public speaking tool. His very first sentence creates a metaphor for us, PowerPoint is like a prescription drug that has promises of making us beautiful, but instead the drug only had side effects of stupidity, boring everyone, wasting time, and degraded credibility of communication (Tufte 538). From this very first sentence you can clearly see how he feels about the program PowerPoint, and slideware in general. Tufte effectively makes his point by explaining, PowerPoint presentations are ineffective…

In fear of tyranny and corruption, two arguments against the ratification of the Constitution were that if they increased the power of the central government they would be too far away to help the citizens with their concerns, instead they favored the rights of the states and the active representation of the average citizens. They also argued to keep the unicameral legislature, they believed that local and state governments represented voters more fairly. They also argued that the newly ratified Constitution didn’t guarantee protection for some basic liberties. They also believed that the Constitution gave too much power to the federal court, they said that the federal courts wouldn’t be able to provide justice to the average citizen like state…

In a country that claims democracy, Indians seem to be confused on the definition of the government style. You can not blame the people however, because it is the duty of the people to have faith in their country to do the right thing. Indira Gandhi manipulated the people of India by legitimizing the repression by calling for order in a chaos that she created. Indira Gandhi has made catastrophic changes to India’s political, social, and religious views that still have negative repercussions today because of the authoritarian precedent that she set for India’s political system.…

Power corrupts because human nature provokes people to never be satisfied with what they have. My first example of power corrupting is in the book OTH. Han , the narrator tells how Om has power over the students : “ When my conversation with Sokdae was over he put his lunchbox up on the desk. This was the signal for everyone to open their lunchboxes.” (13) This passage shows that Om , the bully is using his power to get lunch from his classmates. Another example of power corrupting occurred when Adolf Hitler , a corrupt leader who , exterminated the jews during the holocaust , abused his power and created fear.{http://www.jewishvirtuallibrary.org/jsource/holo.html}.This passage shows that Hitler was becoming the center of Nazi , Germany , Hitler got corrupted by absolute power because his tactics were deceiving like offering false peace with his enemies , only to invade them. My final example of power corrupting , is portrayed in the lyrics of the video to Coldplay’s” Viva La Vida.” The lyrics to the song mean that there was a king who felt like he ruled the world. He was a tyrant who enjoyed ruining peoples lives , and seeing them fear his wrath. (Forum). This passage shows that the king had control and power over his people , but the power got to his head and he did bad things to his people. Because the king was a tyrant to his people , his people overthrew and replaced him with a new king. In conclusion , power can be corrupted in many different ways. One example of corrupted power is OM , and how he had power over his classmates. Another example is Adolf Hitler , and how he killed the Jews. Betrayal is often depicted in literature. Treachery often comes from unexpected places. However, in Macbeth the place where treachery comes from is not so surprising. Macbeth’s betrayal of his friends and countrymen shows the theme behind the book. Power corrupts even the best of men. His corruption and lust for power leads him to these betrayals. Three separate betrayals occurred in Macbeth: the betrayal of King Duncan a leader, of a friend Banquo and finally his countrymen Macduff’s family.…

"Power corrupts, and absolute power corrupts absolutely," said Lord Acton generations ago. In the Greek tragedy Antigone, written by Sophocles, there was a character named Kreon, the antagonist, who was the king of Thebes. Thebes was an autocratic state where Kreon had absolute power. Throughout the course of the play, Kreon abused his privilege of absolute power; and this caused him to suffer greatly, even though he was warned by a few people of his bad deeds. What Sophocles commented on absolute power was that one should not abuse it. If it was abused, he or she had to expect bad consequences. This was indicated by what happened to Kreon when he abused his power.…

The world is a very diverse place. Throughout different parts of the world, there are different people with unique personalities and attitudes. Animal Farm is a heartbreaking story based on the history of a revolution that turned into a disaster, which was written by George Orwell. Two of the essential characters Snowball and Napoleon demonstrate that they value leadership because they portray that they want to make the right decisions best suitable for Animal Farm. In comparison to leading, Snowball and Napoleon also value the prosperity of Animal Farm. By making thoughtful decisions, they would lead the farm into a peaceful, prosperous nation. Snowball shows that he not only values leadership, and the prosperity of Animal Farm, but as well as the animals on the farm, when he decides to build a windmill that would substantially reduce labour. While Napoleon, on the other hand values only his close supporters and himself, when he takes advantage of the food supply on the farm. Therefore, Snowball and Napoleon are similar because they both value their leadership role and the prosperity of Animal Farm. Whereas they are different because Snowball values everyone on the farm, while Napoleon only values his close supporters and himself.…

William Shakespeare’s ‘Macbeth’, is the story of a usurping General, Lord Macbeth, and his wife Lady Macbeth who are driven to murder their king in pursuit of the throne and power. The tragedy has multiple reoccurring themes and motifs, of which Shakespeare uses many aesthetic features to effectively develop and enhance. One such theme is Masculinity vs. Femininity which resounds throughout the entirety of the play and is a central focus point during many events. Shakespeare uses imagery, symbolism and metaphor very effectively during the course of the play to augment and pinpoint important developments and changes to the characters and their states of masculinity and femininity. At the time that Shakespeare wrote his plays the values and attitudes were vastly different to those of modern society. Women were considered the fairer sex while men were considered the dominant sex. In Macbeth, this view is approached with the idea that masculinity carried with it the ability to kill and commit sin while femininity in its ideal was softer, gentler and comprised of virtue.…
