Power By Alice Munro Essay
Does love really matter? In the story “POWER” by Alice Munro Nancy writes a diary of her life story. Nancy's story involve marriage to a doctor she has played an irresponsible April fool's trick on, and feels too embarrassed to turn him down,she doesn’t want him to stay mad at her she accept the proposal just to get the embarrassment out of her way. Through writing characteristic of America’s realism period, Alice Munro emphasis these point that happen in the story independent, friendship and love.
Nancy feeling about wilf was disillusionment which wasn't real. For instance, Nancy the main character choose to marry her friend because she feels embarrassed about the April fool joke according to Alice (page5)" I hope I am not saying that I …show more content…
Alice write one (page1) "by the time I got back from the store my track were entirely filled in". Nancy can do any thing for her self without demanding anyone for help. Through friendship nancy Accidentally met her friend back in high school who she didn't know what was going on with her. According to the author of the story(page1)" she is not in the world that the rest of us are in". This sound like her friend Tessa Netterby have some issues or she have mental issues going on with her. One of the biggest moment is Nancy doesn't explain any love affairs she had meaning I don't ever think she fall in love before. Does Nancy have any reason to accept wilf proposal?
Wilf the doctor who is Nancy fiancé now haven't mention any type of feeling that he have for Nancy he have been proposal to three different type to person but unfortunately it all didn't work. Nancy had a April fool him as a joke but she feel bad but don't know how to apologies to him about her miss behave. According to Alice Munro Nancy said" I wonder about writting note to explain that it was a joke is not a major offense in my opinion? Nancy really feel bad about he prank she had to her friend wilf which she doesn't know how to fix her

When Biff is failing in school, the first person he relies on for help is his father. His attitude toward Willy quickly changes once he sees that he is with another woman. After Willy kicks her out of the room, he just replies, “Well, we better get going” (1617). While his concern for Biff’s grades shows that Willy cares for him, it is contradictory of the actions he has just partaken in. By sleeping with the woman, he betrays not only Linda but also the rest of his family. In a twist of reality, he regains his focus on his family by making his priority handling Biff’s situation by immediately driving back home to ask Biff’s teacher for leniency. However, his detachment from the current situation is the breaking point for Biff as he “is horrified to see the face behind the mask that Willy wears” (Centola). All of his life, Biff looks up to Willy and does not notice a single flaw with his character. When he discovers his father’s true identity, his foundation of everything that is real in life disintegrates into a pile of meaninglessness.
