Potato: A Narrative Fiction
Rhogar was out one day with Potato exploring the mountains near their house when Potato tripped on a vine and fell into the mountain they were climbing. Rhogar noticed this and jumped in directly after her. Rhogar thinks of potato like a daughter to him, even though they were only 3 years apart in age. When they reached the bottom of the seemingly endless pit, both were uninjured, but as they looked around they saw 5 other people who seemed to have recently fallen. Some were conversing, but most were staying to themselves, almost reclusively.
A little bit later, Rhogar noticed a dark tunnel leading from the room. There was also an abundance of large, golden flowers in the center of the room they’d fallen into. Just as Rhogar was really taking

The scent of flowers carried strong over the valley. The overwhelming perfume of hundreds, if not thousands of untouched petals, was long lost to noses that grew up with roses in their nostrils, not able to pick out the aroma of a single stem. Not helping was the deepness of the valley, with the only way out a steep climb with materials they not only didn’t have, but had no hope of ever making.…

Corn hole was the second thing I tried at Fall Fest. This game is not the most thrilling thing in the world. There were several people that were waiting to play because it was pretty much the only thing to do. I am not very good at it, which is weird because the only thing you have to do is toss a bean bag onto a wooden box that has a hole in it. I have never understood the corn hole rules so that didn’t help. The way to get points is by making it in the hole or if the bag stays on the board, but I don’t know how the scoring works. My bags always missed or bounced off the board anyways. I was going to play volleyball after corn hole, but there was no one else playing it so I just watched a bunch of other people play corn hole. Countless other…

Did you know Gwendolyn Brooks was the first African-American, male or female, to win the Pulitzer Prize (eNotes.com)? Brooks was born on June 7, 1917 and began to have an interest in poem early in her life. Her first poem was published at the age of thirteen in the American Childhood Magazine in 1930. Today she is known for having more than twenty books of poems published like “The Children Coming Home” (“Gwendolyn Brooks,”PoetsPath.com). In many of Brooks’s poems she uses many literary terms to elaborate more on the theme of her poems. One poem of hers called “The Bean Eaters” recounts how an old couple upholds their lives together. In the poem there is no mention of any friends or relatives of the couple that accompany them, but only their memories and their little possessions. Although they "eat beans mostly" and "dinner is a casual affair," they dine while recalling all their amusing and wonderful memories of the past (litmed.med.nyu.edu). In the poem “The Bean Eaters,” Brooks uses symbols and imagery to help her explore the theme of an elderly couple maintaining their existence.…

Cheez-its are banned in the cafeteria from now on, all because of what happened on November 14th. This wasn't anybody's fault. It was an awful, awful accident . Someone was trying to eat their Cheez-its peacefully when someone else made him laugh. He started to choke on the Cheez-its. He coughed and coughed and coughed and finally the Cheez-its went flying out of his throat on to the flour. Then, Mrs. Conway walked by. She was quickly walking and smiling at all the eighth grade students, who happen to be her favorite students of all time. I do not think she saw the slippery, slimey, gooey mess of Cheez-its on the floor. As she took her next step, her feet slid out from under her. Her hands looked like rubber as they were flying in the…

Ed Boyd and Barry Edwards were inseparable, and had been since they were nine. Years ago, I, Myron Smyth made a futile attempt to teach Barry to stand on his own. The lessons never took. So, I wasn?t surprised when Ed, quietly nursing a beer after consuming four eggs from the pickle jar, silently broke wind and Barry immediately covered for him. Did Barry stop with an ?oops'? No. He jumped in, his ruddy face turning scarlet; nostrils flared, his eyes beginning to tear and said, "Aahhhh." Behind his senseless grin, he looked much as he had in the fourth grade trying to put one over on us; only today, acne scars had replaced the pimples and stubble covered his chin. His ears still stood out like radar disks…

I’ve always thought food as just a substance to give nutritional support to the body, but there is much more beyond the concrete definition. The meaning of food is defined differently from people to people. Sometimes food is the key to survival, their source of income or just a hobby. But for me, food has help me identify what type of eater I am, reveals my upbringing and has certain roles in my personal life.…

It’s a chilly November afternoon and I’m racing home to catch The Game. I’m thrust without warning into the air, flying backwards until finally landing on my backside. I quickly jump up to my feet and I’m face to gut with a giant. He’s painted scarlet from head-to-toe with a string of worthless nuts around his neck. He wears his jersey proud, towering over me. “O-H!” he screams in my face.…

It was the year 1645 and we’ve been on the plantation for 8 ½ months now. Our family has been here for as long as I can remember, working the cotton fields. We were brought here from a small country off the coast of Africa, the country of Uganda. I will never forget that fateful day. As my mother and I were walking through the forest to gather wood and the proper materials for us to eat, we were bombarded by the white men, they came in different directions threating to shoot at us if we didn’t cooperate, at this time we knew that the rumors we heard all around the village were true. As if having guns pointed to our heads wasn’t enough pain we were beaten, tied, and thrown into the bottom of a ship without food and water for what seemed like days. As I saw the look on mothers face I realized that the days ahead for the rest of our lives were going to be hell for now on……..…
