Possible Hypothesis For The E-Z Program
What is a possible hypothesis for this study? Samantha believes the E-Z program will help improve the student’s grades. Samantha made a formal prediction about the relationship between the students and the new reading program. The hypothesis she made is a testable theory that will prove the results of the program (Burger,21)
Whose class is a control group and why? Mrs. Brown’s class will be the control group. Mrs. Brown’s class did not receive the new reading program. The control group are the students who do not receive the experimental treatment.
Whose class is an experimental group and why? Miss Jones’s class was the experimental group since the E-Z program was applied on Miss Jones’s class. The experimental group is typically the group

A case study usually studies one induvial. If the researcher used a case study he would not be able to prove that the program truly worked. Although, a correlational study would be ideal it would be too complicated to implement on such a large study. A correlational study is used to prove a relationship between variables. Using a case study could bring limitations to the study. Case studies are usually an in-depth evaluation of a single individual (Burger, 28). Case studies could potentially lead to a bias claim. If the researcher is generalizing from a single person he would not be able to prove that the results generalize with everyone …show more content…
The researcher must conduct several experiments to make sure their results are not a fluke. The researcher must make sure their results can be replicated. Before conducting the study, I would gather information about the prior reading program that is set in place. I would want statistical information as well as teacher feedback before I could make a formal hypothesis. Before implementing the new E-Z read program, I would randomly assign each student to either Mrs. Brown’s or Miss Jones’s class. This will give each student an equal opportunity to be chosen to use the new E-Z read program. I would want to make sure the number of girls and boys in each class are at an equal value. Miss Jones’s class will use E-Z read program for one semester, and Mrs. Brown’s class will continue to use the regular reading program. The teachers will chart each students’ progress throughout the entire semester. At the end of the semester both classes will take a test to assess their reading skills. I will compare the students’ progress throughout the entire course along with the students test grade. Statistically, this will provide me with enough proof to decide if the E-Z read program truly helped the students
