Venezuela believes that the Syrian Civil War is a matter of immense concern. On 2 January 2013, the United Nations stated that the war's death toll had exceeded 60,000. According to various opposition activist groups, between 50,000 and 63,735 people have been killed, of which about half were civilians, By October 2012, up to 28,000 people had been reported missing, including civilians forcibly abducted by government troops or security forces. According to the UN, about 1.2 million Syrians have been displaced within the country. There were reports of widespread torture and psychological terror in state prisons. An end must be put to such inhumanity. Venezuela wants this war to end and gives Syria its full support in its war against terrorism.
In February 2012, Venezuela had shipped tens of millions of dollars of diesel to Syria, which can be used to fuel army tanks. Venezuela confirmed that it would continue sending diesel to Syria. Venezuela thinks that if the government's security policy proves successful and it manages to quash the uprising before implementing a package of reforms - and in some cases new laws- that will enable it to regain control of the country.
Venezuela, therefore proposes the following solutions:
There should be no intervention by the international community and Syrian regime must be given full authority to solve the crisis on its own. Regime should make its own attempts to stop the violent killings of the innocent in Syria. Bashar Assad should not step down instead continue his government and should take measures to stop the violent killings in Syria.
Currently the best step that can be taken is to enforce Kofi Annan’s six point peace proposal, which will not only guarantee humanitarian aid, but also
