Over the last three decades, Saudi Basic Industries Corporation (SABIC), located in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, has grown to be one of the 10 largest petrochemical companies in the world.

SABIC is a publicly-owned company and listed on Tadawul, the Saudi Arabian Stock Exchange. The Saudi Arabian government holds 70 percent of the shares and the rest are owned by private investors based in Saudi Arabia and other Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries.

The company is among the world’s market leaders in the production of polyethylene, polypropylene and advanced thermoplastics, glycols, methanol, and fertilizers, In addition, it’s the largest producers of steel in the Middle East. It is the largest listed company in the Middle East and North Africa region by market capitalization. SABIC Vision

Apparently SABIC has a low-cost of production base in Saudi Arabia, making it one of the most competitive petrochemical producers globally, SABIC has a very healthy and strong balance sheet with an excellent financial ratios that it could use for either further capacity expansion or acquisitions, SABIC considered a global market player with production capacity in the Middle East, the US, Europe and China, which gives it access to all major end markets, SABIC is very focused on the commodity part of the chemicals value chain, which makes earnings more volatile despite the fact that the company has intentions to broaden its product portfolio.
