A Bad Journey
It was a day of disappointments. And being an optimist I did not attach much importance to bad omens. First of all the auto I hired to the railway station rattled noisily and emitted more smoke than an ordinary vehicle can. But I had limited time at my disposal, so I decided to travel by it.
1) First of all = Sequence/Order
2) But = Exception/Contrast
3) And = Additional Support or Evidence
4) So = Cause and Effect
ii. Two paragraph different strategies of conclusion
Should our school examination system be abolished? Give reasons for your stand.
In conclusion, while I realize that it will be impossible to do away with all examinations, I feel that they should be given less importance within the school system. For example, instead of basing entry qualifications on one examination, students should also be evaluated through the cumulative marks of tests and assignments. Furthermore educationists, employers, parents and the students themselves should always be reminded that the results of examinations are not equal to the sum of the net worth of the individual.

All in all, cartoon characters are great fun. They show us what people can get up to. I am sure all of us who watch these shows are entertained by them.

The excruciating examination process in which thousands of pressured students who are not fully ready to take an exam, must prove what they have ‘learned’ to aggressive and rapacious examiners, only a minority being selected in the vast marine of shinning students who have just been unchained of the shackles of school work and deadlines? Even the polite and civilised students fall and loose complete confidence in them self’s, feeling like they ruined there only last chance to shine. NO! It’s exhausting having to prepare for an examination when the end result is marked so harshly, it puts the only courage you have down. Masses of tress being removed, the same tress giving us the air we breathe. Papers and papers and pages and pages... all for a single letter on a line, is it truly worth it? Examinations should be banned from the education procedures to avoid any harm it does to the livelihood of a child’s mind.…

Standardized tests are thus a cornerstone of the American public school system. Starting as early as preschool, they are designed to measure student’s intelligence, aptitude and ability to retain knowledge. These tests can very well determine a student’s future in the school system. For example the SAT-1s play a huge role in college acceptance. Yearly IQ and assessment tests can be the deciding factor in student placement. However, they are rarely as valid as they claim to be. They have proven beyond a shadow of a doubt to be incredibly biased towards students of different, race, gender, ethnicity and economic status. I completed my 40 hours work placement at Stourbridge College working with the college’s Football Academy. I worked with all of the college’s teams; however my main focus was with their A-team. The college has a link with Redhill Secondary School and this gave me the opportunity to assist with coaching the year 7, 8 and 9 year groups at the school.
