Scenario 6: Low Fertility
J. In order to control population growth in China—a country with over 1.25 billion people—the government enforced strict economic and social incentives for families to have only one child. Because not everybody complied with the policy, the 2000 total fertility rate in China was 1.8 (rather than the sought-after TFR of 1.0). Assume the Indian government applied the same measures, and this TFR was reached by 2020. Set the Final Total Fertility Rate to 1.8, and the Years to Achieve Final TFR to 10.
