Pope Leo the great (440-461 AD) is famous for his Tome of Leo document, The Council of Chalcedon, and he illuminated the conformist definition of Jesus’ being as the religious states of two beings- divine and human. Despite all of this, Pope Leo the Great is most famous for his persuasion of the crude Attila the Hun (434-453 AD) to not invade Italy in 452 AD. The emperors usually paid off barbaric tribes to not invade them but this further gave reason for the tribes to invade Western Europe. The only thing the stood in the way of Attila and Rome was Pope Leo and the Papacy. Pope Leo the Great coaxed Attila not to invade Italy. This persuasion shows that in fact Pope Leo the Great’s approach to the barbarian invasions of Western Europe were generally successful ones. Pope Leo was successful in his persuasion of the Huns because Pope Leo the Great was persistent in his efforts. He was not so successful when he could not convince the Vandals to stay away from Rome, he did convince them to not completely destroy and burn the city; that is still a success.…

Since legacies leave behind a more physical trail that can be traced back, it is a bit harder to be forgotten. The main issue with this form of immortality, however, goes back again to human error. For some legacies, the name or the act is no longer or was never common knowledge to the people. It is doubtful that a secluded nomad from the jungles of the Amazon will know who Carnegie Hall is named after, who David O. McKay was, or better yet how Dante Alighieri helped to save the Italian Language.…

Adolf Hitler is remembered because he was the definition of evil, but he somehow got into the heads of so many Germans and was able to take over the country in a very short time. In Shakespeare’s case, I think it is safe to say that he has had a huge influence in pop culture, and that is why he is remembered so greatly. He wrote thirty-seven plays and one hundred fifty-four sonnets. He was an incredible poet with an extensive vocabulary of 25,000 words. Although the average person only has a 4000 word vocabulary, his imagery coined a lot of words and phrases that are still used today. Another reason that he is remembered is because many people, such as Helen Keller, Mark Twain, and Charlie Chaplin, do not think he even existed. The mystery of that also makes people curious about him. He was a huge influence on the entertainment business because he was good at capturing what many human experiences are like. From love to laughter, and sadness to death, he captured everyone’s heart by pulling them into the story, and by enabling them to relate to it on so many different levels. He also captures what it is like to be an…
