Ponyboy Character Analysis
Dally is a criminal. Just like Ponyboy is peaceful, Dally is violent. “He’s the type of person who’ll probably find the fight. (pg 28)” This can be easily interpreted to me that he'll go looking for one and if there isn't one around he'll definitely start one. The only reason a person would want to fight is because they have a deep seeded resentment against their status in life and the crave excitement. This is confirmed when Ponyboy says, “Dally blew off steam in gang fights… (pg 47)” That means that he wasn’t fighting for a cause, nor for monetary gain. He also slits tires for fun. Both of these clean cut fact point towards an obvious conclusion. It can only mean that for him, violence and crime is a form of entertainment. He has nothing
