The following paper will explore different avenues of social media use as a company. To be successful as a company utilizing social media marketing research must be done to determine the best practice for Polo Ralph Lauren. As revamping social media is necessary for company growth and success, there are laws and regulations to be followed to move toward the company’s goals. In addition to laws that must be followed, there are ethical issues among social media that the company must be mindful of. To enforce further achievement at Polo Ralph Lauren the following research will elaborate the importance of bettering social media practices, laws, and ethical issues.

There needs to be a social media policy in writing, this makes it easy to refer to. “Your policy should address not only how you want your business and your brand portrayed on social media, but the nature of the posts, who does the posting and how your business interacts with followers” (King., 2015, p. 3). Upon establishing a system for maintaining ethical standards among social media, figure out what works and what does not. Policies must go through trial and error periods to ultimately be perfected to its best version. Consumers will make certain assumptions of a company through its advertisements or social media. There must be a clear understanding made that the company’s sales tactics through various outlets are in no way offensive or have the ability to push away customers. To maintain the business’s image from an ethical standpoint there needs to be a mutual understanding of goals throughout the company. “Specifically, success demands a comprehensive, strategic communications plan that makes compliance and ethics communication innovative and effective, in addition to traditional, predictable communications efforts” (Edlind & Edmond., 2015, p. 19). For a large company, it is of great importance to first establish a social media policy to avoid legal and ethical issues. Certain industries should not refrain from viewing a different market’s tactics in social media. While products may vary from company to company, it is important to recognize various social media practices to better the brand and sales. A large company like Polo Ralph Lauren must abide by laws, and be aware of them prior to establishing various social networks. The protection of the company’s social media and website will overall instill trust, reliability, and safety among consumers. Following the laws and regulations set forth will help eliminate any ethical issues. Within the company as well as the external company there needs to be a sustained ethical knowledge.
