THE POLLEN ESSAY MEAT EATERS DELIMA

Although the Pollen essay was very informative, it will not affect my view on eating meat. Meat eating is a part of many of my family traditions, I don’t have enough information to make a big decision like that and it would be too big of a life style change.

Remember waking up on thanksgiving morning and smelling the turkey baking in the oven? How about the Fourth of July barbeque? All of my family traditions meals’ consist of meat. I would be forced to substitute on my favorite holidays. Who eats tofu for thanksgiving? I’d have to substitute real meat for imitation meat. Even the southern comfort food has meat in it. Jesus even ate meat! My point is it’s been embedded in us, its part of our instincts to eat meat, so why change it now? Ever try planning a whole vegetarian meal? I have once, and it’s not easy, the concept that it cannot contain any kind of meat is hard. It doesn’t feel like a real meal without meat, plus vegetables all the time can get pretty boring. Then a question comes to mind. How do we really know for sure if the animals are being abused? People lie all the time how do we know that they haven’t abused the animals before they are slaughtered, or that the chickens wasn’t caged all of their lives? I am very skeptical when it comes to trusting the words of other people and would really have...
