Police Officers Wear Body Cameras
In the United States there has been more than 1,200 reports of Police brutality. Camera capturing the video from bystanders phones witnessing the misuse of force. It violates the Eighth Amendment which prohibits the federal government from making more than normal cruel and unusual punishment. Unreasonable force occurs when a law enforcement officer uses more force than required too, to make an arrest. Officers are train to stay calm in any sort of situation. I have developed a solution that can limit police officers misuse of power and can prevent a problem from getting out of control. The law within states may differ but they can all agree that mounting a body camera into an officer uniform could prove evidence and help the community feel assure that they are not being mistreated. In order to cut any sort of police brutality the solution is to make Police Officers wear body camera. Study shows that police officers wearing body cameras improved their behaviors and the way they manage the problem when out patrolling. Especially with Officers that have no experience in dealing with difficult situation. Body cameras can be use as evidence to a crime scene and check if the Officer did his part and the way he managed the problem. With the camera the staff chief can make any sort of corrections with his staff if they handle the problem in correctly. Before the problem can escalate into something that is not necessary. “Evidence provided by the cameras is also used to find wide-reaching structural problems within a department, which can lead to revising training, policies, and protocols.”(BWV SG) This is a great way to improve the behavior of the officer. Not all Officers are perfect and some can you a thing or two to remember how they are suppose to handle the
