1.0 Introduction
Information System Development is an essential part of the implementation of information technology. It is broadly defined here as a process by which some collective work activity is facilitated by new information-technological means through analysis, design, implementation, introduction and sustained support. It also includes activities like project management, quality assurance, and software process improvement. Information System Development is an intentional change process, driven by certain more or less clear objectives. The resulting changes relate to a number of perspectives on computer-based information systems.
The purpose of the study is to develop a system that is efficiently, accurately, and severely help the company to enhance their manual operations in processing and monitoring their daily sales transaction. The P.O.S. system will proactively manage orders & receipts of customers in their three retail locations in Bulacan. Moreover, the company will be able to have access to detailed sales reports and sales history. Easy comparisons can be made between date ranges to track their business growth.

1.1 Background of the Study
As the latest knowledge of development in computer technology grows, people’s standard increase. La Mamita’s Bakery seeks and craves for better and more efficient ways to accomplish tedious task. The company needs an effective and accurate computerized point of sale system that will enable them to assure their revenue and will provide accurate and detailed sales reports. A Point of sale (POS) system is where a retail transaction is completed. It is the point at which a customer makes a payment to a cashier in exchange for goods or services. The project ‘Computerized Point of Sale System’ will enable the company to have the control over their transactions, and also will put wealth of information to La Mamita’s Bakery.

1.2 Statement of the Problem The following statements are the current problems that are manifested in the La Mamita’s Bakery.
The proponents came up with the following:

General Problem
How to create a Computerized Point of Sale System that will help La Mamita’s Bakery for processing their daily transactions more efficiently and accurately?
-The proponents’ general problem is how to create a Computerized Point of Sale System that will enable the company to accomplish and monitor their daily transactions in a more efficient and accurate way.

Specific Problems
How to create a module that can add and maintain records of available products?
-The system must have a module that can maintain records of available products.
How to create a system that can secure files? -The system must be able to protect the files of the company.
How to create a system that can secure reports?
-The system must be able to protect the reports of the company.
How to create a system that can generate an accurate sales report to the owner of the company?
-The system must be able to generate an accurate, efficient yet detailed report to the owner of La Mamita’s Bakery daily, weekly, monthly and yearly.
How to create a system that can generate a receipt to customers?
-The system must be able to generate a receipt to the customers La Mamita’s Bakery if necessary.
How to create a system that can automatically calculate the daily sales of the company?
-The company needs a computerized system that has the ability to calculate their total sales automatically and accurately.
1.3 Statement of Objectives 1.3.1 General Objectives
To create a Computerized Point of Sale System that will help La Mamita’s Bakery for processing and monitoring their daily transactions more efficiently and accurately.
-The proponent’s main objective is to help solve the problems of La Mamita’s Bakery concerning with their sale transactions by creating a Computerized Point of Sale System for the benefit of their customers and also their company.

1.3.2 Specific Objectives
To create a module that can add and maintain records of available products. -The proposed system has a module that is intended for adding and maintaining records of available products.
To create a system that has security mechanisms.
-The proposed system is protected with username-password verifications to prevent all unwanted usage and illegal access of files in the system. This will help in securing all the important and confidential records of the company.
To create a system that can generate an accurate sales report to the owner of the company.
-The proposed system has the ability to produce an accurate report to the owner of the La Mamita’s Bakery. This will help in generating a more detailed report and prevent the usual errors that the company’s employee does every time he manually generates a report. Moreover, the company won’t find it hard reading these reports; they will find it efficient instead.
To create a system that can generate a receipt to customers.
-The proposed system has an option to provide a receipt to customers if necessary.
To create a system that can automatically calculate the daily sales of the company.
-The proposed system will be able to help the company in calculating their total sales in a more efficient way.
1.4 Significance of the Study
The following will be the beneficiaries of the proposed system:
Customer
The proposed system will be able to issue or provide an accurate and efficient receipt to customers if needed.
Cashier/Staff
With the help of the proposed system, faster transactions within the customers will be implied.
Owner/Manager
The proposed system will help the company in enhancing their billing transactions that will provide accurate reports.
Proponents
Thinking for an efficient and more accurate solution to all the problems that occurred in the system made the proponents more effective and capable.
Future Researcher/s
This system may serve as their guide/reference in developing their own system.

1.5 Scope and Limitation of the Study Scope
File maintenance
It manages all the information about adding, viewing, editing and deleting of files of La Mamita’s Bakery in the system.
Product Maintenance
-manages the available products of the company in the system.
Product Category Maintenance
-manages the category of products in the system.

Transaction
It manages all the transaction in the system. It includes the list of products of the customers and the total price of their orders.
Reports
it is used by the administrator/owner of the company for monitoring the sales and products offered in their bakery. Reports may be done weekly and monthly depends on the needs of the administrator.
Utilities
This menu can only be accessed by the owner/administrator. This is composed of submenus named Audit Trail and Back-Up and Recovery menus.
About
It provides information guides regarding the use of system.

Help
It contains all the information that can help the user how to use the system.
Log off
It returns the user to the Log-in form of the system.
Exit
It allows the users to close the entire program.
Limitation
Computerized Point of Sale System also has limitations these are the following statements:

Forms of Payment
The proposed system does not cover the payments for credit cards and checks. It only accepts cash payments.
Reservation
La Mamita’s Bakery does not offer any reservations and order for their products. They only entertain walk-in-clients.
Receipt (optional)
The system can only generate a receipt if the customer purchased a large amount of products ranging from 50 pesos and higher. If the customer purchased less than 50 pesos the cashier will not generate a receipt.
