Point Of Being Alive Analysis
John Green said, "What is the point of being alive if you don't at least try to do something remarkable?". This quote can shake individuals' souls who are wasting their life doing something worthless, such as being a couch potato. Humans believe that the two greatest days of our life are the day we were born and the day that we find out what is our meaning of life. However, it might be hard to keep going with our life if we do not discover why we are here in this world. Nowadays, we are fulfilling our goals and finding our meaning of life by doing challenging activities. Ben Saunders exceeded human's abilities by skiing to the North Pole because he wanted to live right at the limit of human capability. Roz Savage challenged herself rowing across …show more content…
Meaningful life means enthusiastically getting up every day with a purpose. We know what we are going to do each day. We know our potential and we think we were not born to do the ordinary things. However, while we are seeking to find meaningful life by going through difficult challenges, some people are still living their everyday life without a purpose. They do not risk anything to make their life better. These universal longings or desires to take risks and do challenging things beyond our limit can come from our innate aspiration. For example, people who do not believe in meaningful life will not be enthusiastic to do such actions. They only chase for their short-term satisfactions, such as food, houses or money. This lack of purpose will lead them to find themselves in the middle of something they do not know why they are doing it. They might not notice but somehow they feel like they are missing something. The mindset that we tell ourselves can change our life and how we act, too. Like Savage, she used to think that she would not be able to row over the Atlantic ocean. But, it was just a story that she used to tell herself every day. She actually could do that. Then, her life story had changed when she found out that not only guys with muscles or athletes could row across the ocean, but everyone. She started to fulfill her ambition and had a life that she could be proud of. This is a pride that she will never forget for the rest of her life. After all, those hard times are the price of where we want to be in our meaningful

In the excerpt from “The Meaning of Lives”, Susan Wolf presents a series of arguments explaining what it means for a life to have meaning. In this paper, I will consider her theory in relation to a specific example where someone has a choice between a meaningful life with difficulties and a simple, content life that is, according to Wolf, not meaningful. Let us imagine an opportunity given to a man called Galen, a former mechanical engineer who lives a remote life with his family on a small farm far from any civilization. He is offered the opportunity to live a relatively luxurious life in return for leading the construction of a new weapon that is a technological marvel far beyond anything else in existence. Though his life may improve as a result, Galen is aware that this weapon will be the source of pain and suffering for countless others.…

Existentialism, a philosophical movement that started in the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries, focuses on the connection between consciousness and existence. Its basic assumption is that reality is recreated for each moment a human being is aware; there is no real connection between the past and the present. In As I Lay Dying, characters like Addie Bundren grapple with questions and fears about being and nothingness. Addie in a sense tries to understand how her physical being can exist over time and space.…

Why do so many people fear death, fight for their country, defend their honor, seek love, stand up for their principles, go on living in the face of adversity, or believe in God? Each of these things involves living beyond the immediate moment, and all of them have at least one thing in common, and that is a sense of meaning. These are examples of big meaning, but in fact every conscious event has significance, no matter how small, fleeting, or trivial the event might be.…

Life is one of those words that can be shaped however one may please and turned into an idea suited for themselves. For example, “Life is like photography. You need the negatives to develop” (Brown). There are many metaphors used to describe life depending on whether it is an optimistic or pessimistic view. Two comparisons some may make about life are having to do with having their life course mapped out and then, to its polar opposite, going through each day without a clue. For instance, when one says “life is the clouds” they are referring to having life figured out and then thinking of it as “life is wearing a blindfold” has a different take on it expressing not knowing which choice to make next because you do not know where you are going. There are those who seem to be born with great intellect and direction knowing each and every step they are going to make and also those that have trouble figuring out the simple tasks. For people who may sometimes find themselves feeling they are stuck in a rut in life they should remember that life can be seen as steady planned out routines but can then also be viewed blindly with every step depending on how they choose to view it themselves.…

The simple answer is simply this: the meaning of life is whatever we choose it to be. One person may choose to provide food and shelter for oneself, for a family or for total strangers. Another person may choose to provide inspiration and guidance to others, or to accumulate wealth, and yet another person may choose, on a moment to moment basis, that which brings peace and happiness to oneself. This decision in what makes your life meaningful is something each one of us makes for ourselves and it is always open to change. It becomes the basis for many other decisions that we make on a day to day basis. If we decide the…

‘When purpose is not defined, abuse/misuse is inevitable’ life would be lived to the fullest potential if its purpose is well defined. It does not only stop at defining the purpose of your existence, it is way more than that, you have got to have a ‘clear purpose’. A purpose driven life would definitely be an envy of all eyes, such a life would affect and impart others positively and so also would be success personified. A life with a clear purpose would readily surmount challenges and turn them into gold mines, how you might want to ask? When you discover the purpose of your existence and stay glued to it, you have not only succeeded in winning your first battle in life, so also you have succeeded in separating yourself from the crowd, in that you know where your passion lies, you have discovered your potentials/ strengths/ capabilities and you would channel all you have got: your inner drive/ will power/ passion/ vision towards maximizing your strengths. Defining a clear purpose gets you only half way, you need stay within the confines of your purpose to get to the dream land, whereby you can replicate success bearing in mind John Maxwell’s nugget- ‘ success without succession is a failure’ . There are essential ingredients in staying aligned to the right path: focus would make you strong while weathering the storm of life because success comes at a price, good ideals will not make you lack encouragement while the struggle lasts because you are on a cause you believe in and it is a prize worth dying for, this in turn would make you resilient and you will never relent until you achieve your set goals.…

People have different perspectives on how is life worth living. For me, there are many things that make my life worth living. Life offers many challenges but through the love that I receive from my family and friends I become strong enough to face them. Love that I can receive as I live is what makes my life worth living. The opportunity to receive and share it to others really makes my life worth living. Happy moments that I spend with my loved ones also make my life worth living. They help me create good memories as I continuously live. Another one is the chance to improve myself as an individual and to have a purpose on other’s life. As I explore my potentialities, it’s worth living to have an impact on other’s life. It’s like knowing that if I leave this world, I’ll be remember by those people which I have left an impact. And life is worth living because it lets us experience failures and attain success. Failures strengthen us to face the struggles and obstacles that we will encounter while success makes room for more improvement to be an individual worthy to be called as successful.…
