What factors relating to the elderly could be addressed to reduce the incidence of pneumonia in this population?

Some factors that could be addressed could be having better therapy programs in longterm facility's to prevent patients from aspirating due to impairments of swallowing/coughing.The management of an acute aspiration event consists of conservative management, observation, and possible antibiotic therapy these being inplamented could improve the number of elderly having this deadly complication.

Helping to keep the elderly and caregivers informed about maintaining a healthy lifestyles starting with not smoking, this can affect the lung ability to fight infections. Exercising and healthy diet are also important for the body to keep
