One of the main problems is its size. Many people thought it was too small to be called a planet and referred to it as the star. Ryan C. of the planetary society said: “
Pluto is a Disney character who has been in 48 of his own cartoons, which makes him a star, not a planet.” . The reason the size matters is because it is so small it can not clear other objects out of its path. It is now referred to as a dwarf planet. A dwarf planet orbits the sun …show more content…
If Pluto were to behave like a comet, then maybe it should be classified as a comet. But if it behaves like a planet, then it should be classified as a planet.
I am going to talk about a past situation that had a big impact on the final decision in “kicking pluto out”. In 1801, a icyrocky body similar to Pluto was discovered between Jupiter and Mars named Ceres. A year later Ceres had its planethood revoked because it was very obvious that it really was just the largest member of what is now called the asteroid belt. If Ceres doesn't get to be called a planet neither should pluto.
They have almost exact same characteristics and yet it only took them a year to revoke its planethood.
Finally, I am going to end this with my opinion on pluto. Pluto definitely should not be considered a planet again.I don’t feel Pluto should be considered a planet any longer. It is 10x smaller than all other planets, its composition is mainly rock and ice while the other planets are either gas giants or all rock, and it really just fits in better as a dwarf planet or some type of large asteroid or comet. If you compare each fact about
Pluto to those of the main eight planets, it just doesn’t fit in. None of them even
