1. Plot Analysis:

1.1 Exposition
The exposition is when the narrator introduces the setting of the prison, the characters of the Warden Holt, and Father Daly.
The curtain rises upon the Warden’s office …………………………………. Warden Holt, dressed in a dark brown sack suit, with a negligee shirt and a black string-tie ……………………………… Father Daly is a slender, white-haired priest of somewhat more than middle age; he is dressed in slightly shabby clericals. …………

1.2 Complication
a) First conflict appears when The Warden and Father Daly talk about who Dyke is. Since coming to the prison, Dyke never tells who he is, where he comes from, and other identity.
The Warden. (sits up to his desk ……….) He still won’t give you any hint about who he really is?
Father Daly. Not the slightest. He doesn’t intend to, either. He intends to die ……………… as much of a mystery to himself.
The Warden. Oh, he’s trying to shield somebody. ……………………………. any more than we did four months ago.
b) The next conflict is when The Warden Holt invites Dyke to have some conversations about his Liberty Bonds.
Father Daly. Are you going to talk with him again yourself?
The Warden. (opens drawer of his desk, and brings out a large envelope). I’ll have to. I’ve still got some Liberty Bonds that belong to him. (He gazes at …………………………………… He don’t want the bonds, but I’ve got to do something with ‘em. (He pushes a button on the desk.) An besides, I want to make one more try at finding out who he is.
c) The third conflict is when The Warden receives a call from the Governor that there is a girl who wants to meet Dyke. The girl thinks that Dyke is her older brother.
The Warden. Ssh. (He turns to the telephone.) Yes, this is Warden Holt speaking. Hello-oh, hello Governor Fuller, how are you? ……………………...... What say?-A girl!-You’re going to send her to me?.................... (He hangs up the receiver, ………………………) Did
