Platform Essay

As we go through life it becomes a journey. This journey of life obviously begins at birth. As we grow older our life experiences become learnd wth the help from our elders. We as humans age, and lose many loved ones along the way. It is my strong belief that once we grow old we should still have love and companionship in our lives. I believe that the elderly should not be forgotten because they are our teachers as well as our history. I feel that it is our resonsibilty and duty to interact and build new relationship with our elderly. As Miss Southwest Michigan Teen I plan to continue sharing my feelings to increase interactions with our elderly nursing homes and beyond. I grew up with a grandmother who has worked with the elderly and that is how I started my love and appreciation for my elders. Sitting on her lap listening to so many stories on how many elders are not just forgotten but lonely as well was very touching in my heart. Our elders may not just have anyone else alive to come and visit them. Reality is if health goes our way we will all grow old some day, so why is it ther fault they had good health. That is why we need to take and advantage of them still being here and go spend an hour out of our week to go and see them. I believe it is our duty to as the younger generation to give back as I feel it is owed even though they may not be our family we have learned from old generations from things such as books, movies, and teachers. I strongly believe our elderly should get the best treatment there is. Everybody is born and grows up but what everyone needs to have is their golden years. I believe the golden years are supposed to be some of your best years and unfortunatly some don't get to have the best experience with those years because they don't have anyone to share them with. Spending quality time with our elders can not only benifit your learning but most of all benifit their end of life experiences as well. As well as benifiting them, you
