There are many methods people can use to reduce plastic pollution. They can reduce, reuse, and recycle. This is the oldest method that is effective if done correctly. They can buy recyclable products with little or no packaging. Buying these products will reduce the use of plastic and will reduce recycling needs which will lead to a cleaner Earth. They can also use biodegradable plastics so we don’t have to worry so much about plastic pollution. Keeping storm drains clean and never littering will also help reduce the plastic that end up in the oceans. Everyone can join the banning of plastic bags which will reduce a significant amount of plastic pollution. Refusing to use disposables and choose to use reusable or Tupperware products. This can reduce plastic pollution because instead of just throwing the container away after using it, it can be washed and reused. People can also help to clean up your local beaches. This will help to reduce the amount of litter and plastic pollution that will eventually end up in the ocean. If one cannot help clean up the beaches, they can make donations to help the clean-up. There are a number of organizations people can donate to such as the Natural Resources Defense Council or NRDC. NRDC is one of the nation’s most effective action groups. They work to safeguard the earth — its people, its plants and animals, and the natural systems on which all life depends.…

Starbucks also draws its followers and loyal customers by promoting themselves as being an environmental conscious company. Their goal is to have 100% recyclable or reusable cups by 2015. There is lots of discussion about the issue of which drink containers is best. My discussion is that Aluminum should be the material used. My decision is based on the following facts. Aluminum is the cheapest choose. It also has the most cans recycled every year. Aluminum can also make the most cans per one ton of materials. People who disagree with my opinion might say that aluminum has the most waste during production or that i t has the most kilowatts of energy used. Based on this evidence I think that aluminum should be the produced used for all drink…
If more people, mainly business and industries, begin adapting to this method, it would reduce many harms which come with not recycling styrofoam. One of the main harms includes the land the piled up styrofoam occupies. It is estimated that 25-30% of landfills are solely dedicated to plastics, including styrofoam. This Means that almost 1/4th of all our landfills are being filled with styrofoam or other plastics. This number can be reduced greatly if the findings of this experiment were to be taken up by others. Another harm that is presented by the lack of recycling of styrofoam is polystyrene takes at least five hundred years to decompose. This means that all that 25-30% of styrofoam which occupies the landfills will remain their for at least 5 centuries. This is not only a waste of space for a very long time but also a burden for the future generations. Aside from the impacts on humans styrofoam is also known for causing choking and starvation of wildlife. Due to our lack of attention and care, innocent animals have to suffer, once again. We not only chock them to death but also pollute their water sources. Since styrofoam floats in water, due to being lightweight, it contaminates many water source (mainly in United States), affect the lives of not only humans but animals as well. Seeing as their are so many problems which arise from the neglect to recycle or dispose of…

Thank you for your interesting and informative post, it interesting to know that the best use of recycled bottles is bottle to bottle use or the use of glass to make more glass. As you mentioned, it seems more energy goes into collecting, cleaning and shipping glass bottles considering they have zero environmental benefits in the long run. However, safe guarding the environment from in discriminatory littering of bottles of glass bottles or containers is utmost importance if we plan on leaving a cleaner environment to our future generations. That said the manufacturers of glass bottle or containers can enlist the help of society propagate how we can best reuse and repurpose glass items in our homes. I believe get information out to the public…

Instead of buying bottled water, get a refill. “Less than 20 percent of single-use containers make it to the recycling bin” (Howard 4). Get a cool metal bottle instead and fill it up when you’re thirsty. In a matter of days, you’ll have a few extra dollars in your pocket and in the process, cut down on waste.…
