After spending my first week I could already tell that nursing is a highly demanding career that brings new challenges every day, but with it comes many rewards and a real sense of job satisfaction. It is through my work experience and knowledge gained from my undergraduate coursework that I have developed a desire to become a family nurse practitioner. Interacting with clients of all backgrounds and education levels has given me the desire to advance my knowledge and develop my educational skills so that I can more efficiently educate my surrounding population.…

Healthcare systems and the way safe, quality health care is delivered are continually changing to better serve patients and communities. Professional nursing practice is a large component in the healthcare system today. Back in the 1960s, professional nursing leaders tried to adopt the bachelor degree programs as the only educational track to become a registered nurse (Creasia & Friberg, 2011). Due to nursing shortages and demands this motive did not hold fast. Individuals entering the nursing profession today must first decide which educational pathway to take to become a Registered Nurse (RN).…

Nursing education in the Philippines has earned a good reputation. Ruth Padilla, the past president of the Philippine Nurses Association coined that Filipino nurses are world class and it is a legacy to protect during a convention in Honolulu, Hawaii in January 2006 of the Philippine Nursing Association - Phil. (PNA-Phil.) and the Philippine Nurses Association of America (PNAA ). Although it was based on American nursing curriculum, it is "never a mirror image reproduction" according to Catherine Ceniza Choy .The Philippine schools / colleges of nursing made adaptations in its curriculum to reflect the needs of its patients. Its admission standard has always been high that it produced nurses at the bedside that have established reputation of hard work, dedication and competence.
