Places That Shaped Me
When a person thinks of their geologic location, they think of where they are on the Earth. A geographer would say that is one part of a location, space, the other concept of a location is place. When actually defining a sense of space there has to be an exact coordinate and distance to an area. Place on the other hand is the infusing of a location with meaning and emotion. It is important to have both of these aspects to a location because it defines where it is physically, while at the same time describing what is felt at the location.
A place that has shaped my character is my church, First Congregational Church of Revere. At this this big red church I made a great deal of my steps as a Christian, from accepting Jesus
I think that I am called to set up roots in Boston because I find myself always thinking about how I can make this area of the bay better. Currently my church is adding to their outreach program in the form of a coffee shop in a build by our church. This coffee shop would provide a space for people, mostly youths, in our community to learn about God in a more causal setting. In addition to spreading the good word it will be a place to display any artistic ability. The whole idea of what this coffee shop stands for, is just what I feel called to do. Another though I had on improving my home is by working on the clean energy projects. Projects that have had the most problems are the ones dealing with off shore wind turbines. I know that some people believe that it takes away from their beautiful view of the coast, as well as taking away value to their beach houses. Informing the public about the pros of the turbines have been done time and again, with no avail. What I believe needs to happen is for owners to get a chance experience the turbines in person throughout the process, thus receiving a better understanding of how this energy system works. Part of this tour will inform owners on some of the reasons why companies pick certain spots for the turbines. By learning about the whole system, owners would be better informed and might change how they feel
