Pizzahut Environmental Forces
Environmental forces
The environmental forces are the external forces of Pizza Hut that will directly or indirectly influence the organization. There are six environmental forces of Pizza Hut such as competitive, economic, political, legal and regulatory, technological, and socio cultural.

Competitive Forces
There are 3 types of competitors that Pizza Hut faced on which include brand competitors, generic competitors and total budget competitors.

The brand competitors of Pizza Hut such as Domino’s Pizza and Papa John’s Pizza are the firms that sell pizza with similar features and benefits to the same customers at similar prices. Pizza Hut should do more advertising so that customers can differentiate them from other brand competitors. Brand competitors are the most significant of Pizza Hut because customers will compare the different product and choose the best firms for them.

The generic competitors such as McDonald’s, KFC’s, and Burger King’s provide very different products that satisfy the same basic customer need. In this competition, customers search for fast food that can satisfy their hunger. Customers can choose whether to eat burger at McDonald or pizza at Pizza Hut to satisfy their hunger.

The total budget competitors of Pizza Hut might include burger, beverage, newspaper or fruits. If the price of Pizza Hut set too high and exceed the limited financial resources of the same customers, this will cause customers to shift to the other products that is more suitable for their budget. Consumers will consume more at Pizza Hut if their total budget is enough.

The type of Competitive Structure for Pizza Hut is monopolistic competition because there are many potential competitors such as Domino’s Pizza and Papa John’s Pizza in the economy. Besides that, Pizza Hut tries to differentiate it product from its competitors by always bring out some new special flavor that focus much more on cheesy pizza such as Big Shot Cheesy Pops Pizza so that

    Papa Johns Study Case

It shouldn't have to be shared, but Papa Johns exists pretty strongly within the fast food environment. Power of buyers is high, substitutes are readily available, etc. Now, to explain their current strategy. Papa Johns, through their efforts, have allowed them to rise to having 6% of the market they exist in, but generally still pale in comparison to Pizza Hut and Dominos. However, their strategy that they've picked for themselves seems to be working for their environment. Their strategy being that they promote themselves as a 'premium' pizza, with superior quality and an attention to customer's details. They've also differentiated themselves by having partnerships with larger corporations such as Coca-Cola and their suppliers. This is a key point. By having contracts with their suppliers, such as the quarterly contract with their cheese suppliers, keeping prices stable at all times is a very easy task, while the other pizza places will often have to vary their prices throughout the year. However, one mistake that has been coming up that they don't match the environment, has shown that they have tried placing too many stores too quickly. They've had to shut down several underperforming stores within the past year, which shows that trying to forcefully expand their market share into areas that already have strong brand loyalty with other competitors is not the answer. Their recent partnership to be the pizza sponsor of the Superbowl over the past three years is a correct way. This allows people to get a cheap 'premium' pizza and try and understand it's superiority.…

Pizza Hut makes different kinds of pizza and presents special offers each day. The product utilizes an assembly line process where the pizza is prepared after passing through various steps. According to Lerner & Lerner (2008), “an assembly line is a manufacturing system of mass production in which a finished product is manufactured in a step-by-step process involving interchangeable parts added in a sequential manner as it moves continuously past an arrangement of workers and machines” (p. 343). The pizza starts with making dough that is usually ready made by machines. The dough is fresh and its ingredients are of high quality; it is made daily to ensure freshness and good quality. Then the dough is placed on a pan and the employee adds the fresh and clean ingredients, vegetables, and toppings according to each customer’s taste. Later, the pizza is put in the oven where an employee will take care of it and make sure it is baked well. Once the pizza is baked well it is served to the customer. Moreover, to ensure customer satisfaction, the employees at Pizza hut are well trained and polite. Each customer is served according to turn; in other words, the customer that comes first is served first. The employees at Pizza Hut treat customers in good manners; they are so helpful and respectful.…

As stated Pizza Hut’s brand image is neither fast food nor full-service. It delivers average quality products for average prices. Previously, it was marketed as a “more for the same” value proposition (Kotler & Armstrong, 2012).Yet, it has done something that shocked the whole market. It has cut the prices up to 50%. Doing that, Pizza Hut is fully reforming its brand image. They are implementing a “Same for less positioning” (Kotler & Armstrong, 2012). In a commercial, an actress playing a restaurant employee says, “We’ve changed just about everything, except how your favorite pizza tastes” (ELLIOTT, 2010). This move is due to a weakened economy and a drop of customers. But initiating a price change is not riskless. Customer may think that the quality has been reduced and Pizza Hut could lose its loyal customers.…
