Pitkin County Jail: A Case Study
On Monday, a local man who has mental health issues was released from custody. District Judge Chris Seldin freed William Hallisey after he had been in custody for more than two years in Pitkin County Jail. Hallisey’s mental health issues have prevented him from being prosecuted while he was in jail. In his first case, Hallisey was arrested on October 14, 2015, for allegedly breaking into to homes in Old Snowmass. He was drinking beer and hard liquor when he broke into the first house. He was then charged with burglary, attempted burglary and attempted criminal trespassing. All three of these charges are federal.
