The Life and Death of Pimp C
Chad Lamont Butler was born on December 29th, 1973 in Port Arthur, Texas. He is better known by his stage name Pimp C and one of the two founding members of the rap duo Underground Kings also known as UGK. Over the course of his twenty-year career in the music industry he became known for his love of selling and using drugs, along with his desire to pimp women which all can be heard in the lyrics of his music. Naturally, living such a demoralized lifestyle it caused him to have many run-ins with the law.

A depiction of his lifestyle can be heard through his verse on a song such as Leanin’ in which he is featured on fellow Houston, Texas rapper Slim Thug’s album Boss of all Bosses. He speaks of rising to fame

    Hatch was born & raised on W. Garfield St., a poor neighborhood in South Side Baton Rouge (SSB). It was notorious for drugs and violence, a place feared by the general population. Boosie grew up with his mom and dad who nicknamed him after the '70s funk legend, Bootsy Collins. Although being raised by both of his parents was a rarity in his neighborhood, Boosie still struggled with dysfunction inside and outside of his home.     Being born on May 21st, 1972, Biggie was caught in the middle of racial violence, gang wars, and a lifestyle that most people can’t relate to. At the age of fifteen, Biggie was selling crack on the streets of Brooklyn, being better known for dealing drugs than making rhymes. This part in Biggie’s life greatly influenced who he became, a world renowned rapper. His career started in basements and street corners around town, freestyling to his peers and neighborhood friends. Ounce he was released, he started to put together mix tapes, which bounced from source to source, causing Biggie’s name to gain publicity. Not long after Biggie started to gain fame, music producer “Puffy”, or Sean Combs started to take interest, and began to record and produce for Biggie. In 1994 Biggie released his first album, “Ready to Die”, which exploded in the rap industry. Biggie had gone from hustling drugs on the corner in 1990, to being the “top-selling rap artist” in 1995 as MTV puts it. Things were looking up for biggie, until his fellow rap artist Tupac Shakur was killed in a drive by shooting. Tupac’s followers blamed Biggie and his crew, who denied any affiliation.
