Yes, it’s true that when you are certain about things faith and arrogance takes over and leads us to become acknowledged or at the top. But why would someone great and successful ever experience doubt? In society we have to know what we want to accomplish and how we want to get it done. One can be doubtful on being able to attain the dreams, discoveries, and challenges that come towards our life. But in the positive, a lot of the times you doubt your self so you can have the ability to push yourself to do bigger and better things. For example, you can surely take a test in class and think it’s easy and be certain that you did really well on it. But, there is always that doubt that you didn’t do well because you didn’t study or weren’t well prepared for this test.…

Ever since my parents’ divorce my dad has always told me to be independent and to achieve everything on my own so no one could have the satisfaction of saying they’re the reason for my accomplishments. His words have been a reason behind my motivation for as long as I could remember. Growing up my family has always told me that you receive the effort you put into achieving something and if failed I was encouraged to try again. Like in “Brainology”, an article that compares two groups of mindsets-Fixed mindset and Growth mindset, Dweck argues that motivation, performance and confidence are results of being praised for effort rather than for intelligence (Dweck 4).…

One was French CEGEP (Lionnel-Groulx) and the other was English CEGEP (Vanier). We gave our surveys to around 75 athletes and 25 non-athletes, 50 males and 50 females. For the non-athletes, we just walked into the cafeteria and have my survey to every 1 out of 5 students, asking them prior if they were participating in any team…

I enjoy the confidence that comes about from the ambitions others have, especially the ones within me. Confidence and certainty are similar in multiple ways. You must be confident to be certain and certain to be confident. A great example in my opinion would be Bill Gates. Of course being the wealthiest man in the world is a great benefit, but the adversity he faced was enormous. A person such as him had to be certain that what he wanted to do would be tremendously successful. He was certain enough that he dropped out of Harvard University. He was certain enough that he took his life savings as well as his parents’ life savings to chase a dream that he thought would certainly be achieved. Having doubt within yourself solely leads to being held back. You must aim for the stars to reach your goals in life. Your plan may fail but at the end of the day with that strong sense of certainty you have win or lose a life lesson of perseverance will come from it.…

Conventional wisdom suggests that praising a person’s ability is an acceptable method for promoting self-confidence, but previous research has challenged this notion. Conclusions from previous studies maintain that students who are directed towards judging their ability while performing a task are likely to demonstrate low expectations for future success when met with setbacks (Kamins & Dweck, 1999). In…

According to Dr. Maltz , we have a natural ability to achieve our goals (Automatic-Success Mechanism). Generally when people lack confidence it is caused by paying too much attention to the past. To activate the automatic-success mechanism the person would vividly visualize a successful future and encouraging future.
