Players should use different types of serves to vary their skills throughout the game and to ensure that their opponent will not predict which serves they are next going to perform. You can use an overhead clear to push the opponent to the back of the badminton court; it gives an opportunity to return an offensive shot. Angling the shuttlecock away from the player makes it harder for the opponent to reach the shuttle cock.…

    Court Volleyball

The positions required for court volleyball are quite different from beach volleyball. Court volleyball requires there to be six people on each side of the court. The players wear knee pads and ankle braces to protect their bones and joints, and they wear tennis shoes for traction and foot protection. Each player has a specific job. There are passers, blockers, hitters, setters, and defensive specialists; generally there is one of each, with an additional hitter, although everyone on the court can play almost any role at a given time. Since there are so many people on the court, there is a higher chance of one of the players touching the ball and keeping it in play than it hitting the floor and becoming a dead ball.…

Overview: Basketball is a team sport consisting of two teams of five players each trying to score by advancing the ball up the court by dribbling or passing and then shooting a ball through a hoop elevated 10 feet above the ground. The game is played on a rectangular floor called the court, and there is a hoop at each end. The game starts at the middle of the court and is called the tip off. The referee tosses the ball in the air in between two players (one from each team), and the players try to tip it to one of their teammates who are circled around them. The team that wins the tip off will get the ball to start the 3rd quarter, and the opposing team will get the ball to start the 2nd and 4th quarters. The game is split into quarters, each quarter lasting 8 minutes. The court is divided into two main sections by the mid-court line. If the offensive team puts the ball into play behind the mid-court line (half court), it has ten seconds to get the ball over the mid-court line. If it doesn't, then the defense gets the ball. Once the offensive team gets the ball over the mid-court line, it can no longer have possession of the ball in the area in back of the line. If it does, the defense is awarded the ball. Each shot made is worth two points, unless the shooter is behind the three point line, then they are awarded three points. When a player is fouled in the act of shooting, he will go to the free throw line to shoot free throws. If the player made the shot and gets fouled, the shot counts and he is awarded one free throw attempt. If he misses the shot while fouled, he gets two free throw attempts unless he was shooting outside the three point line, then he is awarded three attempts. Each free throw made counts as one point for the offensive team. After a foul or a made shot, the opposing team gains possession of the ball and has five seconds to pass it in from out of bounds. After a jump ball the team with the possession arrow will…

When the game was first created there weren't really any rules on how the game was supposed to be played, now there are rules that players must obey. Those rules have changed over the years, though the basics have stayed relatively the same. For example, when playing there is a certain number of players allowed on each team that can be playing at once. And when a player is eliminated from the game, he is only able rejoin the game if it doesn't exceed the number of players allowed on the court at one time. Also, when players reenter the game, they must do so in the same order that they were eliminated in.…

William G. Morgan created volleyball in 1895 as a YMCA P.E. director in the town of Holyoke, Massachusetts.. It was first called mintonette. The name came from the game called badminton. Mintonette, later known as volleyball, took certain things from tennis and handball and was designed to be an indoor sport. The game was intended to be better on a person’s body than basketball and was aimed more towards the older members of the YMCA while still requiring athletic ability. The first rules included a net that was 6 ft 6 tall, a court that was 25 ft by 50 ft big, and any number of players on the court at any given time.…

This picture was taken at the Gonzaga tennis courts. The picture depicts a tennis player in the motion of serving the ball. The purpose of the serve is to get the ball from the baseline, where the server stands, to the crosscourt service box. The goal of the server is to strike the ball in a way that makes it difficult for the opposing player to return it after one bounce in the opposite service box. The difficulty of the serve return can be increased through a combination of spin put on the ball and manipulation of ball velocity through various techniques.…
