Photosynthesis Lab 1. Introduction: Light dependent reactions are the first phase of photosynthesis. It requires light to happen and happens in the thylakoid membrane in a chloroplast. The light energy is absorbed from the sun and converted into chemical energy. Which is then stored temporarily in ATP and NADPH.
Hypothesis: I predict that the wavelength intensity will affect the rate of photosynthesis more than light intensity will.

2. Data: # ATP | Light Intensity (Lux) | Time Elapsed | 1 | 40 | 0:04 | 1 | 80 | 0:04 | 2 | 80 | 2:10 | 1 | 120 | 0:04 | 2 | 120 | 1:27 | 3 | 120 | 2:51 | 1 | 160 | 0:04 | 2 | 160 | 1:06 | 3 | 160 | 2:09 | # ATP (produced at 3:00 minutes) | Light Intensity | 1 | 40 | 2 | 80 | 3 | 120 | 3 | 160 |

Data Continued:

# ATP | wavelength change (nm) | Time (hr: s) | 1 | 400 | 0:04 | 2 | 400 | 0:22 | 3 | 400 | 0:41 | 4 | 400 | 0:59 | 5 | 400 | 1:18 | 6 | 400 | 1:37 | 7 | 400 | 1:56 | 8 | 400 | 2:14 | 9 | 400 | 2:32 | 10 | 400 | 2:51 | 1 | 500 | 0:04 | 2 | 500 | 2:44 | 1 | 600 | 0:04 | 2 | 600 | 1:05 | 3 | 600 | 2:04 | 4 | 600 | 3:04 | 1 | 700 | 0:04 | 2 | 700 | 4:05 |

#ATP | Wavelength | 10 | 400 | 2 | 500 | 4 | 600 | 2 | 700 |

4. Conclusion: Altering wavelength created a change in ATP synthesis, where 400 nm light allowed for the most ATP. Altering light intensity had no obvious effect and ATP production hovered at 1-3. My prediction was correct, with wavelength having a greater effect on ATP production than light

My hypothesis was correct; a higher intensity of light and the wavelength of the color violet produced the most ATP. The first graph showed that for every 20 lux, the percentage of ATP produced increased 1.2 percent. The second graph showed that a wavelength of 425 (nm) had the highest percentage of ATP produced. A…

In cellular respiration and photosynthesis, the reactants flow through pathways to become products in very different ways. Respiration is catabolic, breaking glucose down, while photosynthesis is an anabolic reaction, building glucose. When respiration breaks glucose down, energy is released in small increments. The released energy is used to synthesize ATP, NADH, and FADH2. The NADH and FADH2 go through oxidative phosphorylation to produce ATP and H2O. Photosynthesis uses light reactions to provide energy to build glucose. Inside the thylakoids, where the light reactions take place, there are two types of photosystems, II and I. Photosystem II utilizes light…

In plant cells, during photosynthesis, enzymes are used in chloroplast to catalyse the processes. In light-dependent stage, ATP synthase enzyme is used to generate ATP molecules, they can be used in light-independent stage. Another enzyme, RuBisCo , catalyse the formation of glycerate-3-phosphate in Calvin cycle. The ATP generated in light-dependent stage and NADPH then react with glycerate-3-phosphate to produce triose phosphate, useful 6C sugar therefore is formed, for the growth of plants.…
