Critical thinking is a complex approach to arriving at an educated decision by implementing a strategy for questioning and reasoning that will lead to a well-informed outcome. The process of thinking critically begins with having an open mind. Critical thinking plays an important role because being able to gather and analyze all available data allows me to make decisions to the best of my ability.     I don't know if there is a universal correct definition of critical thinking. I think this a very individualistic tool used by humans to break down different problems and situations and the best way to go about coming up with the best resolution in a non-biased manner. Gathering a thought process that is reasonable and with demeanor. This is simply how I would personally define critical thinking. Thinking things over more than once, second guessing yourself here and there, seeing things from multiple perspectives, and most importantly thinking if your thoughts would be different from the other side of an argument or situation. I think critical thinking is important for us to fully understand ourselves and our situations as well as others and their situations. Critical thinking is considering multiple angles and viewpoints and trying to understand them and where they come from, as well as why they exist. In my life personally, critical thinking has always been something I would like to think I've had due to being raised in a very diverse atmosphere and a very diverse community. I've seen racism towards more than one race, I've seen both sides of different biases, and I have lived in a small town closed minded community as well as the middle of a large densely populated city. It makes you think differently than most around you. It seems like you feel differently than most around you. There isn't much that surprises you so there aren't many situations that you are uncomfortable in. You think before you act, you think before you speak, and you take time and consideration to realize the type of environment you are in and the people you are surrounded by. Things like this don't go through every young person's mind before acting or speaking. You slow down, you react calmer, and you try not to get too high or too low.     What is Critical Thinking?

    Since critical thinking begins with assumptions we must first be aware of the assumption, then make the assumption and finally assess it. Critical thinking is how a person assesses the reasons for or against a decision being made so the assumption is neither good nor bad until fully assessed. Critical thinking is also done by being completely unbiased. This can be hard sometimes due to our emotions. Our emotions make up who we are which can sometimes cause barriers when making a critical decision. So the trick is to not ignore or deny our emotions but learn how to manage and handle them. In order to manage our emotions we may need to argue with ourselves or others whether or not something is true or not. An argument will allow the issue to be assessed along with the reasons of why or why not a decision is valid. The argument will also lead to one or more conclusions in determining what the final decision should be. The ultimate objective in thinking critically is to come to conclusions that are correct and to make decisions that are wise. (Critical thinking (10th ed.) (Moore & Parker). So to me critical thinking is not ill formed decisions but decisions that have been thought through and weighed to come up with the best conclusion. It usually isn’t our first thought that comes to mind.     Critical thinking is the ability to understand a concept fully, and not taking sides of an issue, while not being convinced by your own mind; or any fraudulent reports use to promote any topic or theory. When we critically think we are taking a multitude of steps to make the best possible decision. Some of these steps include our beliefs and claims. Our decisions reflect our conclusions, so we must think critically to come to correct conclusions (Moore & Parker, 2012). Another important factor is the issues, which could just be a question to our self, a question to someone else, or a piece of physical evidence. We have to carefully analyze these facts to help achieve the decision. We also have the arguments, now the argument can both be an internal argument such as the “what-ifs”, or this could be in a simple conversation piece with someone that has different views then we do. Bias is another major factor, we must control our personal bias as we can easily fall victim to bandwagons, negativity as well as the false consensus effects. Many people critically think without knowing the actual terminology of the process.
