Phipps Restaurant
The Phipps Conservatory is by far one of the most beautiful places I have ever laid my eyes on. The Philips Conservatory is located in Schenley Park and it is labeled as a Historical Landmark in Pittsburgh. It was founded in 1893 by an industrialist named Henry Phipps and he had chosen to give conservatory to the city as a gift. The conservatory is comprised of 14 different rooms featuring various species of exotic and domestic plants, and it is also known as one of the greenest facilities in Pennsylvania.
I chose to visit Phipps Conservatory because I have heard so many good things about it and had to see it in person. I have never really taken an interest in observing plant life, but one visit here may have changed that forever. Here, one can truly admire many of the beauties of nature in one large greenhouse. Being that it was my first time going to a botanical garden, it was definitely a surprise. I loved the way the light entered through the glass and into the garden. I also like how they made sure to give the details on each plant; This helped me to actually

It has an area with edible and medicinal plants, and It also has a fruit and spice room inside the conservatory. One building I really found intriguing was the Center for Sustainable Landscapes; They say it's one of the greenest buildings on earth. This building produces all of its own energy and also treats ad reuses all water it captures from rain. Imagine if this can be implemented on a global scale. It can surely change the world for the better and help solve electricity and energy problems in third-world countries. There was another building known as the Production Greenhouse and it contains 36,000 square feet of energy efficient growing space. This is something else that, if implemented on a global scale, can create a much more efficient food production system and help

I am an avid restaurateur, as neither my wife nor I like to cook, and we are always seeking out new locations for great food. Recently, a fellowship opportunity opened up for Sara, my wife, in Atlanta Georgia, which has widened our restaurant selection from what we had here in Oklahoma City. Although there are many great restaurants here, none have the greatness that we have found at Bones Restaurant. Great Atmosphere, great food, and great personalities have rated Bone’s Restaurants as one of the greatest dining establishments that we have been to.…

    Philbrook Museum Analysis

One of my favorite pieces of art in the museum is the Slave Hunt by Thomas Moran in 1862. We discussed this piece of art in class, but to actually see it in person gives you a better understanding of what that artists wanted its viewer to receive from the painting. I like this painting due to the historical account for the era of time in our country that slavery was in and it shed light on how horrible it must have been to be an African American in that day of age. Seeing a painting up close really showcases the brushstrokes, colors, and shadowing that the artist has chosen to use. The Slave Hunt uses shadowing and light in a way to give a sense of fog that may be found in the swamp areas of the south. Another piece of artwork that I have viewed multiple times at the Philbrook would be the Spots Suitcase from Marilyn Levine in 1981. This Ceramic suitcase is one of the most amazing sculptures I have ever seen due to the realness of it and how it looks identical to a leather suitcase. This sculpture tends to play a trick on one’s eyes to believe its leather, when its actually made out of…

One of the first aspects I noticed when I first arrived at the center was the tidy appearance. Cleanliness is very important considering this is where my children will be spending a great deal of time during the day. Right inside the front door is a large common area. This room has a large dress up area with dress up clothes not just for girls but boys as well. It also has a light table for building with special blocks and bookshelves designed with a little…

I appreciated the way they celebrated nature and the way that they honored The native Americans of Florida. I kind of expected more exhibits from the museum, but this is a good amount. They went all out with their realism and sound effects, so it wasn’t difficult to feel like I was in the environment that they were representing. The people loved the Butterfly Rainforest exhibit. They listened to the waterfall, admired the plants and flowers, and posed with the butterflies. There was a beautifully colored blue and black butterfly that did not want me to capture it on video or photo. I liked the temporary calming atmosphere of the garden. I say temporary because my reflexing wouldn’t stop whenever a butterfly flew too close to me. I tried not…

As I was walking around the exhibit, I was looking at the photos and then I would read the description. I noticed that my interpretation to the photo was totally different to the photographers interpretation. That is why I am interested in photography because photos create a feeling either good or bad ,they can be interpreted differently over and over again. Photos mean a lot to me because it allows me to hold and cherish a tangible memory . I am so glad I was able to attend the Philadelphia Photo Arts center because I never take time out of my busy schedule to visit photo exhibits and it was quite an experience. The art center was great and what I enjoyed most about it is that is gives local students a chance to have their photos displayed. That is important because the photo center it gives back to the community and it gives the kids in the urban areas something to look forward to. The exhibit gave me a different perspective to photography, the media likes to flush our minds with photoshop and it can be hard to appreciate a real untouched photo. I also was able to understand that the photos I take of my family and my neighborhood can be interpreted many…
