Brotherhood is a powerful experience that can be seen not only in fraternities but also in other groups such as sport teams, church, corporations, and organizations. Society often dictates that men are incapable of establishing meaningful relationships or that college men are not focused enough to make a difference. This is far from the truth. Here we have an organization that was established on January 9, 1914 by three scholars attending Howard University who decided to organize a fraternity dedicated to the service of humanity. These three men, Abraham Langston Taylor, Leonard Frances Morse, and Charles I. Brown created Phi Beta Sigma. Throughout the years of committing a culture for service and service for humanity, Phi Beta Sigma has been a beacon of hope, operating inclusive as opposed to exclusive, they have demonstrated a strong brotherhood in our communities, in our society, and in many lives they reach out to everyday.
