Pet Peeve Research Paper
"Talk about a hypocrite" Have you ever had a person just sit and talk and complain to you about something you're doing? A person who tells you how much what you're doing is wrong, and why you shouldn't do it. A person who just nags you all the time, when in all reality they are guilty of doing the exact same thing? Well, I have and it drives me absolutely crazy, which leads me to my biggest pet peeve of all time hypocrites! I have a girlfriend that used to always get on to me about talking to other girls, but then she would turn around and be on the phone the with some guy that was trying to get with her. Every time I would say something to her, she would act as if it was no big deal, "He's just my friend" ,she would say. Oh but when it came to me saying that they're just my friends it is a whole different issue. She always said that I was trying to get with the girls that I talked to. That was definitely not the case; I'm just a friendly guy and have a lot of female friends. She treated me like I was a some kind of jerk and that I would cheat on her with every girl I came in contact with, but it is not even like that with me. …show more content…
Any time that I would want to go out somewhere she did not approve of , she would throw a fit until I agreed to go somewhere with her or not even go out at all. I would want to go out to a club or to a party, and she would hate it; she would not even accept it. I mean you would think that I was asking to do something extreme like go get extremely close with another girl. If she wanted to go to a club, I would never have a problem with it and that is how I wanted her to act towards me, but I knew that was never going to happen. I didn't think a girl like her could ever change but I had little hope, which definitely did me some good. She did in fact change. She is no longer a hypocrite, well at least not about

During the Vietnam War there was a sudden, sporadic, and fierce attack against US Armed forces that coincided with the Tet Vietnamese holiday (Schmitz, 2005). This series of strikes was later called the Tet Offensive and was a defining moment in Vietnam War History. It led to a number of poor decisions on the part of the United States military, which were primarily fueled by media sensationalism and a general fear of losing the public support. Public support is a crucial part of effective military efforts and determines the elective power, taxation base, and general camaraderie of a country. If that were to be lost totally, continuing the war in Vietnam would be incredible difficult1.…

Over years, the influence of mass media has increased tremendously, with the increase of technology. First there was reading material such as books, newspapers, and magazines along with photography. Then, sound recordings, films, radio, television, came thereafter; and now Internet, which is now the new media, is social media. However, theses types of media tools, do effect emotional arousal, sex and behavior identification, and changes in allocation of time, consumer purchase, and voting behavior. There is some evidence that mass media influence these types of interests and interest-related behavior, public taste, outlook and values, and inactiveness. In this essay I will be discuss developments, milestones, and applications exemplifying changes in media portrayal of sex and violence, I will explain how the negative effects of sex and violence on children have increased in media technology and how the negative effects of sex and violence on adults have increased in media technology, I also will make specific recommendations about how the problems of media portrayal of sex and violence might be minimized and I will show how media portrayals of sex and violence relate to…

Hate radio is mainly about how corrupt the radio is and the effects it has on listeners. Many of these radio shows are criticizing, looking down on, and even making fun of minority races, minority religions, and even females in general. This gives the public reason to hate these minorities. It angers me that such a large number of people in our country can be influenced by radio. I think it should even be outlawed if they are making discriminatory comments about other races. I understand the first amendment and that there’s supposed to be freedom of speech in our country. I agree that the people speaking on the radio should be allowed to say what they are saying, but not to the entire public. When someone can…

Many parents, when faced with the teenage years and teenage musical tastes, buy their child a headset and hope that their child’s hearing will survive the next ten years. (The generation gap can often be measured in decibels!) And yet, while schools provide the counterbalance to popular reading matter with good literature and a talkshow view of contemporary society with courses on history and current events, it is left to parents to provide the counterbalance to popular culture. The trick is how to protect your child from being the class “dork” at the age of fifteen and at the same time make certain that he/she is not ridiculed as the class dunce the first week at college…
