Pest Control Technician
Pest control technicians exterminate insects, rodents, and other pests from commercial and residential buildings, gardens, orchards, and other infested areas. Their job duties can also include working with pesticides, inspections, and completing light, structural repair, to patch entry points pests use to get into a building. The U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) reported that the median salary for pest control workers in all industries was $34,080 in 2015. The BLS also determined “little or no change” in pest control jobs from 2014-2024.
Becoming a Pest Control Technician requires a high school diploma or equivalent and on-the-job training. Licensing is also mandatory, therefore, after training, technicians must successfully pass an exam.
