Persuasive writing of sports
Persuasive Essay:

What sport or activity do you participate in? Convince someone that your sport or activity is worthwhile.

A sport or activity that I participate in is basketball. Life in general would be very difficult and stressful without the game. If you want to take basketball seriously there will be a lot of hard work, dedication and obstacles to get through along the way. However succeeding through the obstacles will not only pay off your college but it will give you the opportunity to show off your God giving talents. If more people played basketball instead of playing video games they would be healthier, smarter and would feel a sense of accomplishment.
Basketball has a lot of Health benefits. Playing video games is not a physical workout. Every hour that is spent sitting on the couch is a waste of your life and could cause a lot of health problems down the road. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention recommended at least an hour and fifteen minutes of physical fitness each day. (www.cdc.gov/physicalactivity/everyone/guidelines/adults.html) This is why basketball is a rigorous demanding sport because you are always running up and down the court. You get to be in better physical shape when playing basketball; can you say that when you’re playing video games?
Basketball makes you smarter not only physically but academically. When on a team there are a wide range of plays to follow in order for the team to win games. Being basketball smart is very important if you want to take your game to the next level. When playing on a high school or College team you have to achieve a certain GPA in order to participate. Playing Video games will not make you successful because people get so addicted to it that they don’t care about their academics.
(“Discipline is the bridge between goals and accomplishment.”)This quote is good motivation for success. When you dedicate so much of your time to

In the research done by Susan Black “The Search for True Grit” it states, “A quarter century later, psychologists and researchers have refined and redefined several related concepts and constructs, including self-control, self-discipline, self-management, and self-regulation. The terms vary, but researchers agree that these traits are essential for school success” (Black 52). This does not only apply to success in school, but also success in the real world. My mother had me at the age of twenty three and disciplined herself to finish her last year of college to become a teacher. Her road to becoming a teacher was not smooth, but because of her self-discipline she managed to finish college and received her bachelors in English, and go on to receive her certification in teaching. Having four children is not easy, but my mother has disciplined herself to keep up with our extremely busy lives. I take part in various organizations such as band, UIL, student council, and National Honor Society, therefore I am required to follow all of the set rules given to me. The set rules given to me are my responsibility to follow, which means I must have self-discipline. For example, meetings for most of the organizations I am involved in are at seven thirty in the morning, therefore I must go to bed early and wake up early to be able to be on time for the meetings. I am currently the drum major of my school’s…

I have many hobbies, but I like basketball the most. Basketball is like my best friend. The first time I played it, I felt interested. I was so interested in playing basketball after watching my brother play, however, I started learning when I was 9 years old. So I kept doing it. Even if I didn't win, my coaches alway said "You can't win, unless you learn how to lose." When I was in 5th grade my brother inspired me to do that. I…

As I watch a high school sports event, I often wonder if people are actually betting real money on a simple game like this. I also then start to wonder if I would ever find myself betting on a sporting event. Very often, I see a commercial for a company like Fanduel, Sports Kings, or BetDSI and realize how massive of a brand that filtered sports betting is becoming. Since these websites are filtered and have very strict regulations placed on them by the government. For example, a member of these websites would have to be 18 or older, and can only place a certain amount of money on a certain amount of events. Sports betting gives people the feeling of being free, which is mostly why sports fans sign to these filtered gambling site. Even though…

90 minutes to make or break your season. The grass under your cleats when arriving at the pitch. Wind blowing through jerseys while sprinting to get the ball. The silky feel of your school colors on your sweaty skin. The thrill achieved by that one perfect kick straight into the feet of the waiting teammate right next to the goalie's box. The skill and precision that goes into one sport that the world goes crazy for. Imagine dribbling across the length of the pitch and passing the ball, waiting for that pass back to complete the two-touch the team has been practicing endlessly. The ball is coming straight at you at break-neck speed. It’s too high to stop with your feet, what do you do? You breathe, take a look at your coach who is chewing ferociously…

Nearly 65% of children say they participate in sports to be with their friends (Statistic Brain). Sports were established so that the individual could not only exercise, but also to compete against a rival. Just as there are individual sports, there are team sports in high school. The idea of a team sport is that every single person on the field or court must work in unison to have the greatest opportunity to win. In addition to the increasing popularity of sports, the average child’s age when they join a team is decreasing. For example, the age that a child joins a basketball team has shifted from fourth grade to first grade or even kindergarten in the past decade. School is the primary factor when you review the participation in athletics,…

Participating in Basketball has really changed my life for the better. I have learned how to be on time for appointments and having a coach that pushes us to do the best we can, he has taught me to always give 100 percent on anything that I do. This has also helped me to make the right decisions. Such as getting my homework done before the next day of school, because knowing that I have practice later in the evening, I have to get it done before I go. Participating in Basketball and school clubs has taught me that people are always dependant on you to do what is being asked of you. If I do not show that I am responsible for these extracurricular activities, this shows that I can not be trusted, but by being in these activities it taught me to be responsible for the activities that I perform…

We are forced to accept that violence is no longer an acceptable reaction by anybody, that we must conjure the self-control to channel our anger into other more efficient ways. This has changed many views of interpretation on the world in which we live. You can especially see this change in the sports aspect of life. Sports are one of the biggest categories people are involved with, and something many people of the world share a passion for. As you can probably tell, this creates a growing problem. Most sports were created to be violent, an excuse to exert physical domination on another human. Sports were a way in which athletes could escape the normal world, have a new set of rules to follow, be held to a different standard.…

I have played, volleyball, basketball, and coed soccer. Playing sports and being part of a team for a long time can really show you how much people can change, mature, and develop into a different person. It really made me closer with some of the students in my class, just by car rides, practices, and seeing competitive sides of my teammates. Coed soccer has been especially fun. Getting to interact with boys and girls all together really changed, my outlook on being a “team.” Even losing most of our games, I have found an appreciation for the quote “you can’t win everything in life.” Sports have made me have the ability to work together and never give…
