Animal Laws Should Be More Strict Many people may not know that animal cruelty has been around for hundreds of years. . In the article "Animal Cruelty Prosecution" published by American Prosecution Research Institute found that, The Puritans of the Massachusetts Bay Colony established “The Body of Liberties” found by the Animal Cruelty Prosecution, in 1641. The Body of Liberties was a document written for the protection of animals from unnecessary pain and suffering. Animal cruelty happens every day whether it is from starving, beating, lack of medical care or proper housing for animals. We are in need of stricter laws to help fight the rights of animals. Animal laws should be more strict on people because people are getting away with harming these beautiful animals.
According to Missouri Cruelty to Animals Statues, “Animal abuse is a class A misdemeanor, unless the defendant has previously plead guilty to or has been found guilty of animal abuse or the suffering involved in subdivision” (3). Animal abuse should be more than a class A misdemeanor because it’s abuse. If a parent was to abuse their children would they only get a class A misdemeanor? “Class B misdemeanor punishable by imprisonment or fine not to exceed one thousand dollars, or both upon the second and all subsequent convictions.” A class B misdemeanor should be imprisonment for a few years and fines. People that hurt these animals should have to do a year or more in prison. “Animal neglect and abandonment is a class C misdemeanor upon first conviction and for each offense, punishable by imprisonment or a fine not to exceed five hundred dollars”. A class C misdemeanor should be more than sitting in jail. The offenders should at least serve two or three years or be put to death just like they are doing to these animals. Class A, B and C misdemeanors are all the same punishment to me and these people are getting the same punishment for different levels of

I believe that animals are very similar to we humans, they feel and have emotions, thus they shouldn’t be mistreated or abused, rather be treated with love and respect. It was on this belief that the ASPCA was founded in 1866. The first anti-cruelty law was passed after their founding. “…..I have developed a deep respect for animals. I consider them fellow living creatures with certain rights that should not be violated any more than those of humans.” (Stewart)…

In Western literature, birds are often used to symbolize humans. Birds’ anatomy, behavior, and perceived emotions combine to make the bird a useful symbol of humans, their thoughts, and their emotions. Z.Z. Packer adds to this list of more commonly used similarities between birds and humans by endowing the birds in her short story, “The Ant of the Self”, with the gift of speech. By doing so, Z.Z. Packer highlights her use of a squawking assortment of colorful African birds as a symbol for Spurgeon. The birds serve as a catalyst for the story, giving rise to Spurgeon’s and his father’s trip to the Million Man March. As the duo makes their way from Jasper, Indiana to Washington, D.C., Packer introduces a succession of likenesses between Spurgeon and the birds. These likenesses show the extent to which the birds function as a symbol for Spurgeon. Most importantly, however, the birds allow the reader to more intimately examine the father-son relationship between Ray Bivens Jr. and Spurgeon.…

Animal cruelty is a very severe issue. It happens all over the world, it can happen to any kind of animal, A farm animal, a pet, or even a wildlife animal. People tend to think that animals can be treated in a bad way because they aren’t “humans.” An animal is supposed to be treated as anyone would be treated in a good way and respectfully, they do have feelings just like we all do. Although animals aren’t human beings we all have the right to be treated equally. Animal abusers should be punished in a very serious manner; there should be consequences for mistreating an animal.…

I am so sick of hearing cases on the news, like "Man from Atlanta is facing penalties in Georgia in which a puppy was cooked in an oven" or "Brothers in Atlanta are being charged for putting a puppy in a gas range and turning the gas on." Animal cruelty is one of the most common types of violence in the United States. It is not as accustomed to hear such heartbreaking cases as these. Some of the most common forms of animal cruelty are: Animal testing and experimentation in laboratories, lack of owners care and attention, and using animals as a way of entertainment. Now, lets take a closer look at these three forms of animal cruelty.…

Animal abuse is a topic that most people are aware of in this day and age. But to clarify this is not going to be a speech appealing to the pity of Sarah McLachlan's song during animal cruelty commercials. Believe me this topic is truly sad, but its gets worse when you look into the current problems. I will elaborate on what is currently being done. The SPCA is a very large benefactor in stopping animal abuse as many of you probably know by their numerous commercials asking for donations and public awareness but they cannot take this entire burden on their shoulders alone. The type of animal abuse I would like talk about is specific to farm animals. This is a particular topic that many people do not consider. The example i am going to use first is the life of a cow and then elaborate on chickens. A female cow on a dairy farm is repetitively impregnated, again, and again for the production of milk. Hundreds of cows residing on thousands of dairy farms across america are artificially inseminated to constantly produce milk for our consumption. After a time of nine months the cow gives birth to a calf, within hours or a day the calf is taken from the mom and transported to a veal…

Animals on a daily basis all over the world are being mistreated and abused by many people that do not care for them. There are very few people attempting to protect these animals, whether they are domestic animals, farm animals, or wildlife animals. More attention should be drawn to the treatment of animals because even if we do have laws for animals and for their well being, many people still do not follow these laws. The laws already established for animals should be enforced, because I do agree that animals need protection, as in free from any harm done towards them purposely, but to have a Bill of Rights specifically made for animals seems extreme.…

Pain, torture, suffering, fear, danger. These are all of the things that abused animal feel. What would you do if you had to feel this way every second of your life? Law officials in Idaho, Hawaii, Kentucky, Mississsippi, and North Dakota hardly take action against animal abuse. Animals are abused to their deaths daily. These abusers have to respect for human or animal life what so ever! They get away with such a cruel and serious crime, only facing the minimum punishments, sometimes no punishment at all. Animals have just as much of a right to live a happy abuse free life just like many of us do. Animal abusers need to face harsher consequences, before it's to late.…
