Speech Title: Physical Exercise- A Key Element in Your Health and Happiness
General Purpose: To inform
Specific Purpose: I want to educate my audience on three of the amazing benefits they can experience from regular physical exercise including: Losing excess body fat, increased emotional well-being, and increased strength and endurance.

Introduction:
I. Attention Getter: (question) Can anyone tell me what percentage of adults in the US are overweight? How about how many Americans regularly engage in physical exercise? Well, according to the CDC, 68.8% of adults in the US are over weight! Yet only a mere 1 in 5 actually exercise on a regular basis.
II. Statement of Significance: More than two-thirds of our population is considered either obese, or over weight. Yet, statistics show

Increased satisfaction with body image.
1. Look better in your clothes.
2. Feel more confident in social situations.
B. Fewer instances of depression.
1. Increased self-esteem.
2. Better able to cope with stress.
C. Increased overall mood
1. Increases production of serotonin.
2. Can benefit both social and business relationships.
Transition: Having a better emotional well-being means you feel better about yourself. That gives us the boost we need to step outside our comfort zone and try something we didn’t think we had the strength to do before.
III. Increased strength and endurance is the third benefit of regular exercise that I will talk to you about today.
A. Ability to enjoy physical activities you didn’t have the strength to do before.
1. Participating in sports.
2. Vacationing somewhere you can enjoy physical activities previously too difficult for you.
B. Increased independence to accomplish physical daily chores on your own.
1. Physically capable of household chores such as mopping and scrubbing bathrooms.
2. The endurance and strength to cut the grass, edge, and trim hedges.
C. Increased development of muscle mass.
