Persuasive Speech Outline
I. Introduction –
A. Attention Getter: Did you know the world is flat?
B. Thesis Statement: What this means is that the global economic playing field is being equalized or leveled and that world is getting smaller in terms of globalization.
C. Personal Credibility: My virtual enterprise team developed a business plan for a charity based global line of clothing labeled “TwoFingers” (signifying “peace”) which was designed to be marketed using the worldwide internet. We were awarded 3rd place at the Santa Barbara City College Scheinfeld Center for Entrepreneurship’s 2011 New Venture Challenge Competition. In addition, we were awarded the Santa Barbara Foundation’s New Venture Challenge Scholarship. This was a tremendous opportunity for me to

Main Point #1 – Improved Data Communications for Global Interactions
A. First of all, companies and businesses are operating quickly and efficiently without the traditional barriers of time zones, distance and geography. Since year 2000, with the advent of the internet and miles of fiber optic cable laid worldwide, large corporations along with small groups and individuals have all gone global with their own specific technologies, as well as business and marketing opportunities.
III. Secondly, with improved data communications occurring, developing countries have entered the global economic and financial market, including India, China and the former Soviet Union. By doing so, according to the International Monetary Fund (2012), world trade has expanded and has brought substantial benefits to these developing countries (IMF 2012). Thus today, millions of people communicate and trade daily with others from around the world.
IV. Main Point #2 – Understanding Diversity/Intercultural Communications
A. Understanding diversity and being able to engage in intercultural dialog are important powerful economic tools for business organizations to grasp in order to successfully outsource business to other countries. This can take years of cross-cultural training and planning before a company is ready to invest substantial amounts of time and money in outsourcing to a specific

In addition, there is a risk of global collaboration becoming a platform for terrorism or other ill-use.
V. Main Point #3 – Benefits of Globalization
A. Most importantly, the idea of globalization as an economic forum for communication is based on using one’s imagination to the fullest extent.
a. Hence, the easiest solution is to promote “positive” imagination instead of “bad” (terrorist-like) imagination.
b. Thus, one of the most important economic challenges of the 21st century will be how to promote “positive” imagination and prevent “bad” imagination.
B. In closing, I’d like to say that promoting creative positive imagination could do more for international relations than just help strengthen a nation’s economy. According to Martin and Nakayama (2009), it could potentially change the way people in one country think and interact with of those in another country by diminishing cultural stereotypes and prejudices (Martin & Nakayama 2009).
VI. Conclusion
A. To conclude this speech, I hope to someday be a part of this exciting 21st century global economic collaboration and support international business growth through:
a. Improving technical support for better world wide data

This article is written by Li Wei, Director of the Institute of Security and Arms Control Studies of the China Institutes of Contemporary International Relations. Wei discusses how decentralization is being incorporated by the international terrorist organizations. Prior to 9-11, terror networks were primarily set up in a more pyramid design, that is, power and decision making came from the top and trickled down to those that carried out the will of those in power. Since 9-11, those networks are now set up in a parallel system. Traditional leaders of terrorist organizations are now more figureheads and spiritual leaders. They develop the ideals, and the lower levels, or the body of the organization now carries out the plans. This allows decisions to be made at a lower level, with the main goal still being driven by the top. Wei discusses various reasons why this is happening. Technology is being used to help train lower levels more than ever before, and more techniques are being used to deliver out their plans.…
