Persuasive Speech On Women's Rights
Here in America, there are many issues that need fixing that often many people do not realize, for those issues to not apply to them. Instead, they apply to the minorities. Those minorities are not to be ignored, because even though in comparison to the majority, their voices are small, those small percentages still make up a lot of underprivileged people. These minorities are college students, members of the LGBT community, and women. In my four years of being your president, I plan on making many changes to better this country for everyone, not just the majority.

Many people, mainly men, believe that women have had equality since 1920 when women gained the right to vote, but we are still very discriminated against. One of the many issues that women have to face is not having the right to their own bodies. In the current presidential election, almost every Republican running has publically said they do not support abortion. The only Republican candidate who supports abortion is Carly Fiornia. Ironically, she is the only female Republican candidate. The rest of the men are strongly against abortion. So why is Carly Fiornia the only Republican to support abortion? Because she understands that women need the right to their own bodies. Abortion is the decision of the woman carrying the child, not anyone else’s. Other people may put their input in on the situation, but ultimately, the woman gets to decide what they do to their own bodies. Many of the candidates believe they can decide what is right for women they don’t know in situations they know nothing about. Another major issue feminism focuses on today is in the media. In 2015, we cannot not escape the media; it surrounds us everyday. An enormous part of the media is advertising, which is where the issue lies. Often women are sexualized to sell products such as cars, cologne, alcohol, men clothing, and even food in some cases.
