Persuasive Speech On Mass Shootings

Tacoma, the city I grew up in, was a nice and peaceful place until recently, the last couple of months before 2015 ended, was covered in news of mad mass shootings. Young lives were taken away, leaving only wounded hearts, sadness, and the question: What has gone wrong with society? Mass shootings have always been an issue. Studies show that mass shootings and gun ownerships have a direct relationship, that means, the more guns people own, the more likely for us to experience these incidents. Studies also show that the United States had nearly double the number of mass shootings than most of the developed countries combined. Is this due to the Second Amendment? That people have the right to bear arms?

He believes that each time something like a mass shooting happens, we can actually do something about it, and this is something we “should politicize”. Should we get rid of the Second Amendment or should we make it harder for people to own a gun? Apparently, guns and gun industry also have a direct relationship. As a matter of fact, these gun industries create jobs in America, provide well-paying jobs and pay a large amount of tax to the state and federal governments. It’s an important “source” of our economy. If we were to cut off guns, many workers would be laid off, and we will see a slightly drop in economics. These are highly skilled workers and laying people off is not what we aim for but if we really have to, we really need to. Guns are linked to political and economic aspects of our country.
