Persuasive Speech On Elbow Replacement

Year to year, people lose their body joints and that takes away their freedom. In the past, we couldn’t do anything about that so those people had to accept their lives (some couldn’t walk, some couldn’t use their arms, elbows, etc.). It’s unfair for those people that can’t do things that normal people can do. Over time, as technology grew, we figured out a way to help these people. We called it “Joint Replacement Technology”. Today, I would like to show you our new design, elbow replacement. The elbow is an important part of the body that helps humans to bend their arms. What if someone loses their elbow? It’s really hard to do lots of things without a “ live elbow” like cooking, lifting, playing sports, etc. The main goal for this elbow replacement design is to help people that lost their elbows so they can have a normal life. Compression force (pushing force) will happen when we push something. With the same idea, the stick in the middle will keep everything together, so when compression force acts on the replacement, the strong stick will keep all parts together so they won’t break. If you look at the first picture again, you will see a stick behind the replacement. What it does is stop us from extending our arms too far ( 360 degrees). The material to build this replacement will be titanium because titanium is strong so it’s super-useful to use titanium to replace our elbow joints. The cost of the material to build this replacement is $.03. The weight of titanium for the replacement is .289 grams. There are 453.6 grams per 1 lb and titanium costs $50 per lb.
