Persuasive Speech About Yoga
Do you ever wake up and the sun is not shining and you're laying in a dark room not wanting to move. The silence of the morning is peaceful and you getting up would be disrupting such a serene moment. You're up and the sky is dark and gloomy, much like this bay area weather today. It is not the normal motivating weather with the bright blue sky and warmth from the morning sunrise. How do you get up for practice before the first rooster crows? How do you get to the gym before the first ray of shine hits the horizon? What do you do when you're lazy and don't want to move? Sometimes a good start to your morning will make you forget that it's grey outside. Are you asking yourself, what can I do to make it a better day? My answer is, get moving. …show more content…
The perks of yoga are that you can do it from the comfort of your home or go to a nearby studio. The great thing about yoga is that it's become very popular which means more places are offering classes or new studios open up. If that's not your forte then maybe you can go for an early morning swim, the possibilities on how to get up and get moving are endless. I know, I know, you don't want to move, but you're running out of reasons on why you shouldn't. The perks of it are far greater than you hitting your snooze button. We all have aspirations to feel better about ourselves, yet we do nothing about it. We keep telling ourselves that we want to look a certain way or be able to run a mile without stopping. Why don't we ever follow …show more content…
To get that college acceptance letter took you thirteen years give or take, to get your dream job took another few years for school, getting experience, etc. Learning an instrument took a tremendous amount of time and practice to get to where you are now. You may not be first chair, but you're also a lot better than the people who have never even tried to learn how to play. Self-discipline is important to your success, in anything you do. You can't be the athlete to beat if you never practice and you'll never reach your bench press weight if you never train. It may seem like a lot at the moment, but if you take it one day at a time, it's less daunting. If you want to lose ten pounds and you sit and think about how you're going to do it instead of going to the gym and trying to it seems nearly impossible. Have your goal, but don't let that stop you from seeing what's in front of you. One work out is done you need to get yourself to the next one. Soon enough you'll have shed five pounds without realizing it and then one day you would have already reached your goal. Just think, one foot in front of the other. You've all heard slow and steady wins the race, don't push your body too far. There might be a deadline for whatever goal you're trying to achieve, but your body can only take so much. You cannot lose ten pounds in ten days because you didn't gain those ten pounds in a matter of days. It gradually added on

What I'm about to tell you may shock you, might even amaze you. Let me start from the beginning. It was a day at the end of June, this day starts off the coast of Nirvana (an island located in the centre of the Pacific Ocean), where a beautiful young girl with blonde hair and blue eyes was exploring the rocky shores after a big day of surfing. As she explored the girl noticed an opening in the rocks. The young girl was curious about the opening and her inquisitive nature drove her to check it out. As the girl got closer to the opening she began to hear a 'whooshing' sound coming from within the opening. The girl continued to move closer to hear what was making the sound but SUDDENLY! She slipped and let out a loud horrific squeal.…

I was wondering if I could come in and talk to you about the physical education requirements needed to graduate. I have my own strict personal workout routine that I do daily, and adding a sport would be both physically and mentally tiring. I understand that I could just stop my routine to save my time and energy for the sport, but I have done this routine for years and it keeps me fit and awakens my brain. The workout applies to my body, my strengths, and my weaknesses personally. I am contacting you to ask for a time that I can come in and talk to you about what the real benefits of and reasons that doing a sport are and how it differs from my personal workout. I also wanted to come in to ask you if there is any alternate possible way to…

Imagine that you trained all your life for that special moment of playing in your first NHL game. At the beginning of your first shift in the game suddenly another player’s stick comes up and strikes you in the eye. This incident ends your career. This could have been prevented if you wore a visor. I think visors should be mandatory in the NHL in order to improve a player’s safety. Statistics have proven players who wear visors in the NHL play less aggressive. There are many incidents involving sticks and pucks going into player’s faces. A recent incident occurred between Philadelphia’s Chris Pronger and Toronto’s Mikhail Grabovski. Furthermore, two years ago a former NHL player Brad May, Gave a speech supporting the use of visors.…

PTSD or Post Traumatic Stress Disorder is a psychiatric disorder that can occur following the experience or witnessing of life-threatening events such as the military combat, natural disasters, terrorism incidents, or any major tragedy. This is common in the life of veterans and is the leading cause of suicide among veterans. A VA patient who survived in Baghdad shares his experience with PTSD and explains how he knew he had this disability. Many veterans speak out about this issue and describe their continuous anger, alcohol addiction, and constantly wanted to fight. They usually feel very isolated and distant from their loved ones. One patient states, “PTSD involves rocketing into extreme states of stress re-activity; in the form of terror, rage, and uncontrollable impulses, and plunging into equally extreme states of being shut-down—exhaustion, emotional numbing, despair, and dissociation”. PTSD is about having fear and anxiety, allowing veterans to rage with anger and different emotion. There are many factors to PTSD, which affects others in different ways; or example, using video games to keep them occupied, spending money due to the lack of impulse control because of changes in their brain, and even not obtaining another job.…

PERSUASIVE SPEECH OUTLINE SAMPLE - MOTIVATED SEQUENCE PATTERN By Fui Oili (with modifications made by S. Pastor) TITLE: Vacation in Hawaii GENERAL PURPOSE: To persuade SPECIFIC PURPOSE (GOAL): To persuade my audience to choose to take a vacation to the neighbor islands before taking a vacation out of the state or country. GENERAL IDEA: Visitors come from all over the world to experience the beauty and adventure of Hawaii. However, many local residents haven’t had the opportunity to experience all that our islands have to offer. Instead of always travelling to the mainland for vacations, Hawaii residents should first experience the uniqueness of vacationing right here on a neighbor island. INTRODUCTION (Attention Step) I. (Attention getter): Over the PA system the agent announced the arrival of United flight 93 arriving from Los Angeles, California. I waited at the baggage claim entrance where I stood there holding my lei and sign with the names of the visitors I was to greet from their flight. As the people started to flow out of the doors I called out, “Mr. and Mrs. Robert Williams”, all the while thinking about what I was going to cook for dinner and wondering what my kids were doing. When the visitors finally arrived, I was quickly brought back to my reality as I greeted each one with a lei and I said, “Aloha, welcome to Kauai.” With excited smiles on their faces they thanked me and told me how excited they were to be in Hawaii and how they couldn’t wait to start their vacation. The thing that really hit me was when they said, “You are so lucky you live in Hawaii!” Immediately I was reminded of how true that statement is. It’s ironic that it took a visitor from another part of the world to remind me that yes, Hawaii is an amazing place to explore, even for those of us who already live here. (Reveal Topic): This morning, I’d like to encourage all of you to seriously consider taking your next vacation on any of our Hawaiian islands instead of travelling out of…
