Persuasive Letter To Thanksgiving
Dear <>,
Growing up in an abusive family left Chris with little to be thankful for. Drugs became his only means of escape . . . when he was only 12 years old.
His flight from the horror at home pushed him into rehab at 18. Homelessness. Then jail. At rock bottom, he recalls, “I was in so much pain, I hit my knees and said my very first prayer. It was, ‘Please, someone help me.’”
Imagine
Thanksgiving without food, home, or family . . .
And thank God with me that Chris found help here at the Santa Barbara Rescue Mission.
Right now, you can feed Santa Barbara’s hungry and homeless like Chris for just $1.51 a meal this Thanksgiving.
Thousands will come to us this fall for food and care—hundreds on Thanksgiving Day alone, for a wholesome meal with all the trimmings: turkey, stuffing, fresh vegetables, even pie!
…show more content…
That’s why I urge you to send your generous Thanksgiving gift today, as God moves your heart. It all starts with a meal and together, we can provide a hot meal and real hope for every $1.51 you send now!
<< We will take care of them like our own, as family this Thanksgiving Day, [Salutation] . . .
So please send your very best, warmest Thanksgiving gift of $[ask_array_xx] to feed [ask_array_aa] hungry people. Or give $[ask_array_yy] to share meals, safe shelter, warm clothing, and the hope of Jesus Christ with [ask_array_bb] neighbors in need.
Better yet—for all you’ve been blessed with in this beautiful community and country—send a Thanksgiving gift from the heart of $[ask_array_zz] or more to make sure [ask_array_cc] hurting and homeless, like Chris, know how much you care . . .>>
Enough to provide a wholesome family Thanksgiving

Thanksgiving. One of America’s most beloved holidays. I mean it is so important that we get a whole week of school off. For most people when they think about Thanksgiving, neither the words thanks nor giving comes up. It is turkey am I right? How would you feel if you showed up to a Thanksgiving meal and there was no turkey on the table. I mean could you even call that a “Thanksgiving” meal? This was the exact thinking process I was going through last Thanksgiving. However, we were not going to someone’s house for dinner. Our family was the one hosting the dinner.…

Grandma Calls out “Dinners ready” and before you know it the dinner table is engulfed with all my siblings and of course papa. We all sit eager as ever, anticipating thinking and imagining how good the turkey is going to be this year. Everyone’s engaged in one another, talking joking and laughing around the table. It’s about as good as any Thanksgiving dinner can get, but as soon as grandma cracks open the oven the aroma of the freshly seasoned and cooked turkey floods the kitchen. It’s as silent as the nights whistle. She brings the comestible around with the help of Uncle Richard, as grandma is getting far too fragile and weak to do anything on her own anymore. We as family agreed her cooking skills are far too superior a thing to allow to go to waste. So whenever the opportunity arises, one of us is always helping grandma. Uncle Richard proceeds to slice the turkey ever so graciously making everyone at table froth at the…

“A Native American Thanksgiving”, written by Beverly Cox and Clara Sue Kidwell, is an informational article including recipes, all relating to Native American culture. They begin this piece by dating back to the earliest known facts of “Thanksgiving” between the Pilgrims and the Indians. Cox and Kidwell set out to show the reader the real meaning behind this holiday. Pointing out that Americans only give thanks once a year, they go in depth about the Native American’s beliefs of giving appreciations. Indians would give credit and acknowledgment to the spirits of nature throughout the year in hopes for generosity in upcoming hunting and planting seasons, considering farming was an important part of Indian life. This material allows Cox and Kidwell…

As the holidays come closer my emotions start escalating. Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years can be very exciting dates but also very thoughtful and saddening. Many times several things occur suddenly, not always good but not always bad. At times we aren’t prepared for anything else but good things to happen, without considering there is no sunshine without a little rain. Thanksgiving is right around the corner and it is about being thankful for anything we’ve had or have throughout our life. It isn’t about the material things “Oh because I just got a new iPhone, or a new iPad” it is much more than that.…
