Persuasive Essay: Why to be a Patriot
Freedom. That's what we came here for, right? A chance for a new start. A chance for a new beginning. A chance for a new life. But do we have the freedom we came here looking for? No!

But why should you listen to me, anyway? I'm just James Cannon, that ol' carpenter from down the road. I'm just a regular Joe, a Plain Jane. And that's the same exact reason why you should listen to me. I'm just like you. I'm not some high-class, stuck up lawyer who thinks I have more power than you just because I have money. I'm not some Negro who is looking for my freedom. I'm just like you. And I'm telling you this: regular people like you and I, we deserve the freedom we came here for!

Many say that Britain is the parent country to the colonies. This was true at one point. She took us under her wing and got us started. But "even brutes do not devour their young, nor savages make war upon their families." She has turned on us. The king "has refused to pass other laws for the accommodation of large districts of people." He over-taxes us. Why should we put up with this? Why should a miniscule island have complete rule over and entire continent with such great potential? In Britain, the king is law. In America, "THE LAW IS KING!" Let's fight for our rightful independence and freedom!

So, my final question is this: do you want the freedom of independence? or do you want the king to rule your life? How much longer will you put up with this? How long will we put up with the taxes without our consent? "The Parliament of Great Britain hath no more right to put their hands into my pockets, without my consent, than I have to put my hands into yours for money." Break free from the bonds of Britain. Fight for your freedom, your independence! Fight for your country! FIGHT FOR YOUR RIGHT TO BE A

    Chapter four of A People’s History of the United States, by Howard Zinn is about how Britain’s aggressiveness in government allows their tightening on the colonies. Because of their need for raw materials to balance their economy, their control over the colonies becomes stronger in order to obtain these raw materials. The colonists perform a series of rebellions in order to overthrow this British rule. To lead these rebellions, educated leaders led groups of rebellions with hate and opposition directed toward the British. Colonial government then starts to realize that they need to appeal to the lower class and begin to adopt economic policies to do so. The struggle for unity between these classes is just another spark leading up to the revolution. “Tyranny is Tyranny let it come from whom it may.” This quote shows the want for separation in the colonies.
